As a former seafarer myself these are absolutely not even close. Yacht crew make SLIGHTLY more than cruise ship crews. To put a number to that, cruise crew often make less than US minimum wage. These guys make from $12-16 an hour equivalent.

@@nin_po I knew someone that was a cook on a private yacht. The owners were only onboard about 6 weeks out of the year. The yacht was relocated from the Bahamas to Caribbean to west coast USA every year. They lounged around while underway.

I was born in so cali in 62 and we call this a really good friend. Sacrifised his boat to total our boats we can't afford so insurance makes them go away. Its called California business bro

Makes no sense to me that the chef gets so little. They should be up there with the Capitan. They are the backbone to the whole experience, not to mention they work almost 24/7.

@@jebronlames7789 Yeah okay, I'm going to take seriously a comment form someone who doesn't know the difference between "you're" or "your". Sigh, but I'l try: Your (see; YOUR) argument is ridiculous. You are trying to use responsibility, as the experience. I never said responsibility in my comment. Having experienced captains and technicians are, unfortunately, not noticeable to the people paying. That's not how it works for the customers. You've clearly never worked on, or been on, a super yacht charter. If the food is bad, you will NOT get positive feedback on the charter. The food for the guests is at least 70% of the experience. The chef is on call all through the whole charter, day or night (obviously depends on if they have a sous chef). If someone wants a snack, they are waked up to make it. Many will return to a yacht because of the food. And on a final note: I NEVER said they should get the SAME as the captains, I said UP THERE WITH them, in other words more than they are getting now.

@@nolankozak8077 That's a good point. I know several chefs who even have agents that work out contracts for them to ensure a good pay. Sometimes they even get a bonus cause in the contract based on conditions like how many hours they end up working etc.

For larger vessels and the amount of work your doing the tips are super high but the our day rates can be low !
