Hi there I don't want to sound daft but would this be a similar process for the face-lift insignia? Many thanks on the video it was very helpful to watch

Great video, just a little confused, you state the torque setting for the sump drain plug is 25 nm. but the HAYNES Insignia manual states 14nm.
@Thediycarchannel26 күн бұрын
Follow the Haynes manual you have. Mine says 25nm same as the oil filter housing

hi. does this apply to 1.8 sri insignia aswell?

I doubt it this is 2.0 diesel. I'm guessing things will be in different locations. It's all practically similar but doubt it's the same. I have never done the 1.8sri so can't be of any help unfortunately. Sorry cedlvr

Not really showing how to get the old pipe out and new pipe in.
@jameshague91072 ай бұрын
I know this is old and maybe you'll not see this but, do you really need to bleed the brakes, can you not just leave the pipe on and wind the piston back in? I know it'll be harder but I'm doing this on my own, I've done the front but not the back before
@ThediycarchannelАй бұрын
Yes you can I would say 90% of garages do it that way. It can invert seals I'm told and it's the reason brakes end up. Spongy eventually.

Hi please can you tell me why my insignia 2011 always loses the oil cap, I always tighten it but it always comes loose and enough oil is escaping from there. Secondly, under the cabinet driver's side. After switching the engine off, there's this sound like long bip sound that slowly goes off. The last. In the air system or hydraulic system, there's also sound like gas out of a cow. But only sometimes not always. I want to be sure of what it's going on before I will go to mechanic. Sometimes it can be something that doesn't need a repair hope. Thanks

@Thediycarchannel4 ай бұрын
Yes you could but that could invoke a lot more work on some vehicles. I think that is over kill myself if you do regular oil changes there's no need to remove the sump. But if you wanted to there's no harm in doing so

Nice one. I'd been meaning to do basic servicing on my own cars for years and it took covid to finally push me to do it. Saved hundreds since doing a full service, drop links, arb bushes and discs+pads. If your car is fairly modern and nothing is badly rusted it really is easy to do routine servicing and even some suspension work with a basic toolkit. Even for my city car the main dealer wants >£200 for just a oil+filter change! Costs me £35 and takes half hour.. FYI: The service fill for the 1.6TDi IIRC is 4.3 litres.

Great vid mate, when bleeding the brakes do you have to repeat the same process on the other side of car or is it sorted once you’ve bled one side? Cheers
@Thediycarchannel4 ай бұрын
Thank you. You have to bleed each side you loosen as it will pull air in that caliper. I would say 80% of people don't loosen the bleed nipple they just push this piston back slowly. But it's a lot easier to do with loosening the nipple if it will loosen and it's not seized

No such thing as a daft question. Your meant to use a torque wrench but I do it hand tight then probably about 1/4 of a turn it don't need to be mega tight. If you can get a torque wrench that would be perfect
