haha what a sound, Katie! It took me a minute to realize you were the same Katie that used to play in Frank Glasson's jazz band. There were a few of you high schoolers at the time that were ahead of the curve and were better than I was as a college student! Glad to see you kept with it. Cheers!

Hi Katie, I know this video was posted a while ago, but you have a very nice tone and trumpet technique. By now, I know you have finished your studies at Jullliard. Are you still currently performing professionally?....as a trumpeter, what are some tips for trumpet tone and definitely technique?...Keep playing, you are an awesome trumpeter!

Great sound on a very challenging piece! Quick question. What are your thoughts on warming up? I know you've studied with some amazing players, If you could maybe share some of their ideas as well that would be greatly appreciated.

@ktstrumpet Thank you so much for the comment to aerodynestrat1. I always thought talented people like you were a lot different than me, but it sounds like you were going through the same stuff as a juvenile. I always felt that people had to be from a special background. I guess I was just trying to give myself an excuse to be not successful like you. Once again, I greatly appreciate your replies and attention to your fans.

@ktstrumpet In regards to ditching class, not doing homework, and getting up or to places early to practice. A true, real musician. Wish I knew more like you. Great video.

@huffpuffmusic I've wanted to say the something for some time, but I never thought I was in the place to say it. I know that at this time I will never play this piece as well as you, but I feel that there seems to be no feeling. The dynamics and everything are great, but it feels too robotic.

@ktstrumpet Great words of advice Katie. If you have the passion, just play, don't let 'time' get in the way of your passion, in anything.

@SirGlennGould What do you mean? That women can't play the trumpet or trombone of whatever other brass instrument? What century do you live in? Women can play the trumpet just as good as men. There are just more men that play the instrument. That's all.

@65strad I was playing on a standard 229 25h, and now i'm on a 237 with an A pipe. my horn now is a better fit for me. it has all the colors and flexibility i'm looking for and is a little easier to play. I study with Mark Gould and Stephen Burns. I'm glad you like the video, thank you.

what kind of trumpet is that? really awesome btw(: i think girls that play trumpet are stereotyped because me and my friend both play trumpet and are at the top of my section in wind ensemble but our director puts a boy in front of us because he is "more disciplined" gaaay! haha

i would practice at lunch and ditch my 5th period class and keep practicing. In 11th grade i was in 2 big bands, a quintet, and 3 orchestras - none of them at my high school. i just played all the time. I would do my homework (or not) and then practice at home, or i would get to my rehearsal early and practice before orchestra. you just have to make the time. get up an hour earlier and practice in the morning. (my parents loved that solution - 7 am trumpet)
