It was really nice to dive into the depths of your cherished memories - I'd be lying if I said I had a bad time with these lines. My deepest gratitude. As for me, well, I could come up with a lengthy TL;DR. The passion I have for the Resident Evil saga was born a long time ago, and I first played, hm, Resident Evil 1 on PSX, but I'd rather jump to the fourth entry immediately. 2005. My parents bought me a PS2, and I was over the moon about the console (I'm very much into PlayStation, even nowadays). Resident Evil 4 was everything an RE fan could only dream of. Fall. 2005. Finally! I was lucky to try the gem shortly after release. Mind-blowing, mind-blowing! The game was far ahead of most of its contemporaries in terms of gameplay, atmosphere, and direction. However, music has always been an important part of my life. Sweet tunes permeate all my existence; no wonder I take people and objects around me as melodies and sounds. I was so happy to hear Serenity for the first time - that was the ecstatic pleasure I thought I’d never get, the ultimate audial revelation, the heavenly delight. “My favorite one,” I decided. Throughout all these years, Serenity has never failed to boost my joy and to overcome tough times. The faithful passenger. 2019. My wife and I had our first kiss. The burst of love I felt for her filled my brain with everlasting flame and gave my heart eternal calmness. The same things happen sometimes, though. ->

April 5, 2024, 5:22 p.m. The first encounter with the Merchant. I took a deep breath… “Welcome!” Shockingly, the soothing, soft sounds started playing - I didn’t expect to hear any music at all when talking with the mysterious hooded empresario español. The vibrations of the good old voice were really gratifying. Ten seconds… The Explosion. Euphoria. That greatest melody. The greatest melody I’ve ever heard sparkled in my head and set fire to every cell of my body. Tears, tears, tears. Heavy peals of thunder reverberated through the firmament and drove me mad. Our first kiss. The blue moon that caressed us with its faint glimmer in the dark night sky. Cozy. Warm. Love. Friends. Can’t stop crying. Sobs and hoots. I’m one of the happiest people in the world. Blurry images change at the speed of light; my impressions of the “new” Serenity are hitting like a hefty sledgehammer smashing your skull; my heart is a place for the best memories. These wonderful nineteen years are a true miracle. Love. Friends. Rapture. Tears, tears, tears. Then the puzzle got solved - I was incredibly happy back in the day. I’m significantly happier now. My love for everything around me - my wife, my friends, the world - became even stronger. Incomparably. The Greatest Day of my life. Ah, and Resident Evil 4… No doubt… I love it waaay more than the 2005 game too. Yes, the “best-game-of-all-time” phrase was a subtle reference to the old new Resident Evil 4. This is the original version for me. Forever. P.S. The violin (hope you get the hint)? Well, that’s another story…

Long texts rarely capture people’s attention since the human mind tends to avoid overload, but I like elaborate commentaries, as they dispel any misunderstanding. And your story is brilliant, believe me. As long as you don’t waffle on about vague things, you don’t have to be sorry. Okay, let’s cut to the chase. When I played Death Stranding at the end of 2020, I concluded that this game had a remarkable ability to focus on the things resonating with you in a peculiar, paradoxical way. What am I pointing at? Its slow-paced, ataraxia-inducing mood, which is expressed in gameplay, visuals, and soundtrack, helps you to distract yourself from your everyday duties, especially if they suggest faster thinking and better endurance for overcoming a tense atmosphere. I’m not talking about melancholy or anxiety - I refer to some practical tasks and concerns you have to solve here and now. In my case, Death Stranding helped me to handle an incredibly heavy workload - I literally had no time to talk to my wife and relatives, ‘cause there were a lot of things to do. I used to come home late at night then, I couldn’t stop thinking about what would be next, I was unable to fall asleep (chronic tiredness, fuck it). Damn, I can’t remember my wife being awake back in those days. However, Death Stranding took me to another world - dark, unfriendly, dangerous but beautiful, calming, relaxing. The game’s amazing landscapes made me forget about my typical urban lifestyle, and it was some kind of genuine relief. Furthermore, I saw Sam trying his very best, and this example kept me motivated (I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like the frantic pace of my job, yet it’s always better to look for a compromise position between extremes). I said to myself, "Sam did it, so why won’t I?" And finally, my in-game journey ended symbolically when all that work-related madness faded away... Distraction and artistry, resonance and stark contrast. Yes, it’s Death Stranding. And this ethereal soundtrack playing in the background. Ambient music is one of my favorite genres (so we are both ambient fans, good for us), and Death Stranding is a real gift even in this regard. Can’t stop listening to the stunning Ludvig Forssell’s tracks. This title is something else at almost everything it shows. I'm extremely glad you're one more person who liked it so much. I’m sure we’ll never forget its mind-blowing OST. P.S. Nice to hear you have some free time now. Thank you for your story.

The same here. Frankly speaking, around 100 hours in the game were about just listening to some ambient tracks while sleeping ;) It’s a genuine screen saver.

The most emotional and personal adventure over the two last years... as far as I know. I’m truly excited you’ve finished it. When I platted the game in the very beginning of December, it left me with some kind of devastation: it’s been a while since I’ve had such a feeling. A real masterpiece that definitely MUST win a GOTY award. It deserves this one, I guess. Thank you for your comment, once again ;) I’m sure you celebrated Happy New Year well :) P.S. Yes, it’s a genuine milestone in the video game industry. It’s unlikely somebody’s going to make something like this... I hope it’ll happen one day.

I’ll check this out, then we’ll see what I can do. P.S. There’s no way to “mute” SFX and voice in the game, though. Your only option is switching sound output for BB, but it doesn’t solve this problem at all. I see your point, I was really upset when I got to record some new music and didn’t find any advanced audio settings.
