Melanie Martinez's music is special interest group music, like Dai Lam Linh music or "Nhạc Lên Đồng Lên Bóng" music in Vietnam. Not many members in the general audience would enjoy unless they have consumed marijuana while watching the show. Many attendees at the Jingle Ball, especially those seating in the Floor Area of the stadium, are children under 18. They should not be exposed to this kind of music. As for the Jingle Ball 2023, we normally have about 9 performance sets, and each set is performed by a group. This 2023 event in Washington, DC., we have two (2) K-Pop performance sets out of 9. And that's a lot. We have 100+ ethnic groups in DC; this is a diverse culture area. Having two K-POP performances makes me feel like K-POP is a phenomenon while it is not. K-POP is hybrid culture entertainment and to me it is not anything that is fascinating or widening my view of the world. There are too many Korean artists on the stage and it is hard for me as an audience to see the strength of each performing member. Because a set or a song has to be divided by this "many" number of performers, the audience is more likely to see weaknesses rather than strengths. Contrary to your belief, many people would simply buy the tickets if 2-3 performance sets feature the artists that they like. For example, if Hot 99.5 features Miley Cyrus or Dua Lipa in 2024 for Washington, DC., I would come to the event. I do not care about the support of the other 7 sets. I still hope that iHeart Radio and Hot 99.5 continue to bring Mainstream music, not special interest music, to the audience.

its funny how you post ur review on this concert only for it to randomly go from melanie martinez’s music being “special interest” music like nhac len dong’s music to probably an entire rant abt how there were too korean artists on stage + (kpop being a phenomenon??) and lastly to how kids under 18 were there when they maybe shouldn’t have been there 😭 most likely supervised at the concert by their parents but who are we to decide if they come or not, some of those kids r probably teenagers and are mature enough to come

unless the venue only allows people who are 18 and up to attend the concert

Melanie is pretty mainstream. The entire audience went crazy when she stepped on that stage but it’s okay to be delusional

Most of the audience comes to Hot 99.5 Jingle Ball at the Capital Arena for Mainstream Music. Melanie Martinez music is not anything sounding like Mainstream. Honestly, to pay approx $200 for the front row tix, $10+ for each drink, to wear beautiful clothes to the event, to cope with the cold weather and to find rare parking spaces, this live event experience is not worth it. I was at home and I am glad I stayed home.

The Capital One Arena should now be called the Ruthless Act Arena. There is no doubt that iHeart Radio, Hot 99.5, Capital One Bank and Capital One Arena have no more good music and season-cheering music to give the audience for the high ticket price that they pay to come to an event that is supposed to be holiday celebration. Having reviewed NCT Dream performance, (G) IDLE performance and this marijuana-induced act, - assumed to be opening sets - and I am just so glad that I have stayed home. It is all noise. Two opening acts that feature two K-Pop Dance groups (and I say, "DANCE", not s i n g), I wonder if the producer has no more artists to invite to the show. Or is it cheaper - because of a low production budget - to utilize Korean people (artists that I virtually do not know) to perform as opening acts for the Jingle Ball Concert to the Washington DC Audience? Please do not forget that there are Filipinos that could sing English songs very well. There are Hispanic Latinos that could sing Spang-lish very well. And the artists that iHeart Radio and Hot 99.5 invite must represent the audience background. Just your future reference, the audience works very hard to be able to buy tickets and to come to the show. THEY WANT TO LEAVE THE SHOW FEELING HAPPY AND CHEERFUL. If you are invited to perform at a Jingle Ball concert because you have been famous on the radio singing well sad and "feeling down" songs, please make sure that you find two cheerful and happy songs to present to the audience in your 20 minute performance set.

You were right not to go, in fact there were fans of hers there, if you don't know, stop trying to seal it, love that she's only there as a child too, so don't come and diminish the work of an artist. And don't belittle anyone, you adults do work. But no one forced anyone to buy, they even announced the schedule beforehand and you were aware of what was going to happen. If your favorite artist wasn't there, no one is to blame for you tarnishing the others, save your money and go on tour and don't expect a 15 or 17 minute performance. If I were there I would enjoy it a lot, unlike you who don't agree with sad songs and reality
