Awesome picking what would you recommend someone to get started playing clawhammer or 5 string or what brand thanks.
@longbowbanjoAL28 күн бұрын
clawhammer is the playing style not the banjo style. heck you can clawhammer a guitar lol and if it aint a 5 string it aint an american style banjo. the 6 strings are a guitar neck with a banjo body and the 4 strings are the irish style. i recommend deciding on which style you like and borrowing one from somebody to see if you like it enough to buy one. ones that sound worth a dang get very expensive. its a conundrum. bad ones are cheap but the sound and playability might discourage you. the good ones almost play themselves as they say and sound good but if you dont like it thats a lot of money wasted. borrowing a good one if you can solves these issues. if youre going the buying route any cheap playable pawn shop banjo will work. if you want a really good one deering is hard to beat www.deeringbanjos.com/collections/banjos?page=1 . i was going to recommend the clawgrass model but they went from 5000 a few years ago to 15000 so i cant justify that lol
