Sara-- you made edible art! I remember in kindergarten, we were invited to a friend of our parents, to decorate Christmas cookies. I remember adding food coloring to egg yolks and painting the cookies with the colors. The bagels look amazing--also edible art!!! Healthy 2025 to all !!!

Great job! The gel colours will definitely help, and I think your royal icing was showing some mottling, which means it's not as stable as it should be. Try to use icing recipe that has meringue powder and cream of tartar in it, then let the cookies dry for at least 24 hours before painting.

Wow! So impressive--you have done a fantastic job! As a child I remember an elderly neighbor bringing us some cookies like these, and my mother wouldn't let us eat them. She was clearly impressed as well. Never found out what happened to the cookies!🤣🤣
