Didn't know about apples. If your cast iron rust, your not using it enough. My cornbread pan never sees water, flat grill gets scrubbed all the time, don't dry w/ a towel, put it on the stove then oil it a put away. Never use soap

@@David-zc6wqyep, just glad I could help a little bit. I always shy away from using soap. It’s not something I’d use but that’s just me. But the apples are a great idea if you must clean it as the apples are very acidic.

To get 350 degrees in a Dutch oven is very simple ... if you have 12 inch Dutch Oven you put 12 charcoal briskets on the bottom and 24 on top ... I use actual Charcoal briskets because they are easier to get it right .. Of course they used wood charcoal and had to guess the correct size briskets ... Just remember what ever size Ditch Oven you have you put same amount of charcoal in bottom and double it on the top ... Example : 8 inch Dutch oven put 8 charcoal on bottom 16 on top .. 12 inch Dutch oven put 12 charcoal on the bottom and 24 on top ...

Enjoyed the walking tour. It would be quite interesting to know why schools were built on this Hallowed Ground and especially very close to the mass grave of the soldiers. Continue to preserve and interpret this important battle of the War for American Independence.
