I do not understand how the CSA is continuing to push Zigbee when so much time and effort has gone into Matter.

Ok matter is great, but you kind of failed to mention that you need a hub that is capable of using if the Internet goes down... For example Google hubs and Alexa do not work with no Internet...

Now I don't have to look at something Amazon and Google make and think I want one but I then have to set up a new connection hub as well. Now I just pick both and they work

I would like to agree but when it goes wrong there is NOTHING that can help, Google Nest hub Gen 2 fails every time to commision MATTER over THREAD & NO one cares? THREAD over MATTER is a complete mess as EVERY matter router generates its own Thread network?

MATTER IS EVIL!, Companies will have to pay CSA every year for the rest of their life (probably more and more later on) for yearly certification and membership fee to use the so called "free open source" protocol (or their product will stop working with all the apps)... it will just price out small manufactures (and DIY small batches makers that can't use matter because they don't want to be CSA members), and raise prices overall.... it's not a free and never will be... it will cost us much much more down the road if we will adept matter as a global standard instead of a real free and open source protocol...

As excited as I am for the spread of this technology, I’m a little disappointed on the rate of adoption and lack of support for features that matter alternatives have offered for years, such as adaptive lighting temperature

Ummmm... wtf. Why are these "fabrics" suddenly a thing?!?!?! The whole point of Matter was any Matter device was supposed to work seamlessly with ANY Matter controller. Now you are saying they can only work with controllers within specific "fabrics"? This COMPLETELY defeats the whole point of Matter!

This looks like a more sophisticated DIY control system for the big tech players like Apple, Google, Amazon, Samsung etc but still way too limited at this early stage to compete at the C4, Crestron, Savant, RTi level. No doubt very cheap online pricing in comparison but still only mid school level not even high school so a lot still needing to be done but it is still relatively early days. If it doesn’t improve way beyond this then it’ll remain the Joe Bloggs DIY solution for home control.

I'm the computer over all that matters inside and outside my home. I do not need any of these so-called devices hooked together so that their signals are being party-lined over into anywhere to anyone other than to my home or wherever whenever. I sure the hell do not need my Me/Myself/I Informations surveiled or curtailed by any device routing to outside sources clouding up every bit of the Me/Myself/I Informations Matter gathers and sends to surveillancers who send all my Informations to all the control bots that go to the people's that be the Powers that be over every single person in the whole world that is on any type of GRID ! ! !

Yes! Companies like this will explode right now. Human interface platforms that are universal. Mostly a first come market. Also, all on the higher market. Sort of a places in-between space. like a company that sells the designs the best form of screws kind of thing. There need to be long term patent designs to ensure viability with competitors.

I'm struggling to understand where this fits in (especially with Thread and Matter coming down the pipeline). This basically turns a Zigbee-Direct compliant device into a Zigbee hub/gateway, accessible via Bluetooth on a smartphone? This sounds great in theory, but if you need automation/out-of-building control it would make more sense to buy a traditional hub and control it over LAN, correct?
