One of the best uses for this car is getting used to the rear weight distribution & breaking at the limit as training for the Porsche Cup car but in a much more forgiving format. Things that would kill your race in a cup car, has the possibility of being saved in a formula Vee. Many of your mistakes are more likely to just make you slow and not ruin your & other's race like what would likely happen in a cup car. (Most of the crashes I see in cup cars wouldn't have happened if they had mastered the Vee)

The steering controls are awful in Sega GT. That's kind of a problem in a racing game.

The level of detail in the car setup options in GP4 has never been surpassed... and every tiny tweak made a difference. For me, testing setups was almost as much fun as racing. Haven't played for a couple of years because the ancient computer I ran it on finally gave up the ghost and I haven't found a version that runs on my current machine. I never achieved my ambition of breaking every track record... the one I could never get was Interlagos. I wasn't even close, and seldom finished a full race distance on the lead lap. Top speed: 231 mph. (Wrong direction down the Kemmel straight! 😉) For those of you who still have it, try this challenge: Race a full season with *only one car setup* for all quali and race and see if you can do better than my nine wins. 😮

Empty Box is still the best Sim racer ever

What always surprised me was the weather model and the rain in GP3 and especially GP4... Always a mystery how bad it would turn out, how fast it would dry up, and a true drying track with only 1 dry line and wet offline. The graphics on the new f1 games looks cool and all, but they really fail on immersion and unpredictability, something Geoff Crammond was awesome at in creating these gems.

Note about the Panoz cars on Steam: they are broken. RaceDepartment/Overtake has an original EXE for installing them, run that EXE and the Panoz cars will all have correct models, textures, and physics.

You are an old man yelling at clouds, its just an actual perfect game, maybe i miss the "story" progression like a gran turismo mode but it feels like the most approacheable accuracy between a game and the actual handling of a professional car and the weight it occupies, misses that meaningless static camera of latest gran turismo and actually lets u personalize the camera as not never any racing game let u do, and in the driver view lets you HIDE the steerwheel so your real one's feels like the real one, and is incredibly light, is a pleasure to run a game at its full performance without expensive hardware. 11/10

I only really play the SimBin games, and i never change FOV no matter screensize or anything, all i change is the seat position in case you sit too far or close to the wheel, or too low from the road. I like driving seeing the cockpit as a whole, not just the windshield with the dash. I wanna see the wheel moving, the entire dash, and stuff like that. It might be the Forza player in me, i grew up playing Forza on the 360, but i cannot drive with a low FOV or without seeing the whole cockpit, i feel claustrophic

i'm always faster in races than in practice or qualy sessions.

I still play the original on a win 7 machine, absolutely no reason to update game or os since both are infinitely better than anything out on the market.

This is the exact thing that gran turismo completely misses, the ability to race a full grid of cars from any specific champion or year. ACC has been a breath of fresh air into serious/sim racing games and I am particularly looking forward to GTRevival

Ive just bought this as part of the simbin package on steamdeck but cant get it to run properly. It boots up but as soon as i go to press a button it crashes. Anyone got any ideas?

the greatest thing about these old sims, is that they run on a potato.. lets say you are a little kid, if you can find cheap racing equipment second hand, an old tv, all you need is basically "a computer" and you will be able to get into this hobby fairly easy.
