The US military lost thousands of helicopters during the Vietnam War, and a common event was the helicopter crews to get payback by tying up prisoners and throw them out of the side doors of the helicopters. This is documented in the 'Winter Soldier' made in 1972. War crimes happened daily and it cannot be denied that children and babies were killed by US troops on patrol or driving past who would gun down kids for fun? vengeance? because they usually got away with murdering children who were not seen as American kids. I have no doubt that many or most didn't gun down whole families or commit torture and similar crimes, but the US troops were scared and arrogant poorly educated, racist, young kids in a foreign country with weapons and allowed to run amok, and they were given the permission to behave like they did. I can imagine that the last 5 or 6 decades have been a nightmare, with guilt, anxiety, regret, PTSD, flashbacks, alcohol and drugs to self medicate, failed relationships, wasted lives and with many thousands committing suicide. All for being too young to understand that they were supposed to protect the South Vietnamese people and only fight the VC and the NVA, they allowed their anger and hatred and desire for revenge to engage in behaviour that would send them to prison if they behaved like that in their own country, they couldn't burn peoples hearts down in the USA so why could they do it in another country? Murder and rape and torture is all going to end up with doing decades or life in prison in the US, so how was it tacitly allowed in a foreign nation?

I arrived in country in 6-69 and served with the 1st Cav Div over in Tay Ninh. Those combat medics were a special breed, they were fearless. The nurses who took care of us were another special breed, not only were they fearless but compassionate as well. I remember seeing little babies but to my knowledge only the VC tortured and killed them. Very good video.

I was 17 years old when I got to Vietnam-1966 through 1969 (My mom had to sign a waiver for me), You could not be drafted under the age of 18 but you could enlist with parents’ signature. I grew up fast and learned a lot, good and bad. (I am now 73 and still learning). I was stationed on the USS Providence (Navy) and also stationed in Country at a place called "Monkey Mountain" close to DaNang,. I spent 3 tours of duty in and around Vietnam. 3 of my high school friends were killed in Vietnam, I was spared. I participated in the TET Offensive in Feb 1968, that was bad. Somewhere along the way I was exposed to Agent Orange (Nasty Stuff) I am now on disability for the effects of agent orange. When I was discharged and came home to the States we arrived in San Francisco, and there were a lot of protesters spitting on us and throwing rocks and eggs and called us baby killers. That was our welcome home. I tell you this to say to you, that whatever your position is or was on the Vietnam war, it was not the veteran who got us into the war, most of us went because we were patriots and loved our country. Blame the politicians, yes, but not the veteran. To all Vietnam Vets out there, you are not forgotten. As a previous combat Vet myself, I salute you my friend. ***

They were called baby killers because they lost the war. Nobody called the US soldiers baby killers when they invaded the Philippines and won.
