Mikel gives me Kanu vibe. Just that he is not much on the striking side. But his ball holding skills is top notch and his stance is Kanuish too.

Great video overall. But a few things . Liverpool in 2012 wasn’t a top team they finished 8th in the league. Also I won’t say his decision to play for Nigeria was necessarily the right one but more of a noble/ patriotic one. He would have won a 3rd EPL medal. Continued as an impact player/ sub for Kante or Matic. After he left Chelsea he floated around in the lower leagues in England like you pointed out. But still an underrated player

Mikel only was 2nd best to Messi 2005 WC in Netherlands, because Argentina defeated us at tve finals For my opinionMikel 11th hour switch to Chelsea i fluenced by Mikels Ahent Shittu. Chelsea at that time had an inform Lampard and another Africs great Michael Essien. Thst decision for me , was a bad decision. Mikel free flowing attack minded game wld have suited MU style then. And Mourinho not wanting to drop Mikel to d bench and b qurstioned why all the trouble? He decided to change Mikel from a free flowing creative smooth attack minded midfielder to a holding midfielder.. infact Mikel played behind Obasi and the rest, not stand in front of 5 and 6 at d WC . We all saw the big gab left by Messi against a Mikel Obi years after they both played against each other and like I said for my opinion Mikel was d stand out player in that WC tournament .

He was best player of the Year in serie A with low class team like Udinese , he was signed for Barcelona of Guardiola, he played with best Messi , Iniesta and against real Madrid of Mourinho. He score 3 goals against real Madrid in the best time of el clasico. In Premier League he played Champions League with arsenal many times and he was the heart of the team.
