Phew did that time ever truly exist?? Phew yes it really really did, as once upon a long ago I was a small patt of it. With my cowboy hat my and my cap gun fully loaded I must really have thought I was the main man. With our good old black and white TV, the adventures of robin hood. The twighlight zone the lone ranger. A good old game of marbles maybe a walk down the river with our brightly coulered fishing nets , our tins and jars filled with fatheads barabits n other small fish then back home to watch the Dr do battle with the dalex. Then back out to climb some trees and home for bed. Bliss phew where did all that innocence go?? If only we could beg steal or borrow a TARDIS from somewhere and just pop back for a day or two.phew

Thank you from the heart for this tribute. Sadly, I only learned of Tomʻs passing recently (9 months later), and was seeking a work just such as this. He had such a gift!. Clearly my fave actor, albeit Im quite a fan of his widowʻs work(Diana Hardcastle) as well. Thereʻs never been a role that he inhabited which wasnʻt thoroughly convincing, which didnʻt draw you into the personality of the character, and which didnt create an intriguing canvas that stole the scenes. I mayʻve first noticed his work in 1985ʻs Wetherby with Vanessa Redgrave; Judith Dench; Ian Holm; one of his many quality performances among his prolific body of work. Im grateful Tom Wilkinson has left us such a fine legacy of cinematic art. Thank You Tom Wilkinson, for the many years your work will be applauded.

What a great human being that left such a lasting TV and film legacy. First saw him at the Hampstead theatre club in a John Byrne piece. The slab boys . JB another Glasgow inspirational figure.

What I have been trying to find are the foreign TV series that were shown on TV in the 1950s. They were shown in English. I remember one mystery TV series from Germany with a catchy theme tune but I can't remember the name. I also remember the TV series from India about the boy with the magic shoes which made him run like Flash. Once again, I can't remember the name. But the one from France is one that I will never forget because it was my favourite. It was called 'Cristobal and Company'. It was shown on the BBC (it's mentioned in an old Radio Times magazine from that period in the 1950s) and I guess all the others were on the BBC too. They were so good. It's a pity they are not out on dvd. They were special, because they were not just interesting stories but they also showed us what life was like in those foreign countries which interested me a lot. Nobody ever speaks about them, they seem to be lost. It's such a pity.
