Never use brasso on a brass intrument! I am a band intrument repair technician, and brasso is much to abrasive for the brass in brass instuments. Also, don't use anything to clean your valves. It will create micro-scratches that will effect the bearing surface. Same goes for the insides of the casing. Most repair shops will give you a full chem-clean for not a lot of money, and definitely much less than what it would cost to refinish a horn.

This is probably a dumb question, but the polish won’t destroy a non-silver instrument, right?

Hey Luke, I was wondering if there was a reason behind why you kept the slides out while polishing? Was it simply because they weren’t cleaned yet or is there something regarding the polish to watch out for like how it could be harder for the polish to reach the middle of the horn area? And should I be concerned with covering the lead pipe as well as the tuning trigger? I just recently bought the same horn you have in this video and I love it! Thanks for the awesome resource!

This video helped me in high school . I went from cleaning my own horn, to cleaning the entire brass lines horns… including sousas/tubas. I made a small fortune doing that haha

bro it’s his instrument so he knows and also tell me how you know it’s a baritone or euphonium because im betting you’re incorrect and i want you to know how to know
@dayvidmeeboi33437 ай бұрын
@@JHCMPR It is a euphonium, but they are very similar. Baritone are from different areas, but are slightly slimmer, and more round. Baritones are shaped closer to a Wagner tuba. Many players use the names interchangeably, especially if in marching band, since you march with a marching baritone, and use a euphonium for concert season.

I played an Tenor Trombone in Jr high and high school. Our teacher told us about soaking in a bath tub. It worked great. Then I bought a step up baritone trombone and it was stolen. I am still praying and trying to find it and get it back, In really miss my large bore 'bone. Pray for me that it will be found and returned to me. Thanks...

Many of the steps would! You might choose a different polish based on the finish of your instrument, but most everything else would work.

Can you just put the slides back in before using the spray polish thus eliminating the need for the balloons and also polishing the shiny outer part of the slides?
@lukecgall2 жыл бұрын
Yep! You can do that. It still might get in the cracks a little bit, but it's not a huge deal.

Those soaking periods are way over the top. I simply use my brush and some warm soapy water, then rinse throughly under the tap. It’s all done well in a couple of minutes. Hint: use a slightly heavier oil on the threads, just a drop will do. That will prevent sticking the next time you go to unscrew the caps.
