If Jimmy Page did it, it can't be bad :) i.e. thumb over the fret resting, I think JD Simo is an awesome guitar player, just saying.....

Met JD at Robert's Western World playing with the Don Kelly band on Broadway in Nashville about 12 years ago. Totally blew me away. Later I found out he was not originally a country picker and started as a rock player. That REALLY blew me away! On the rock side his energy, style and showmanship reminds me a lot of the 60's and 70's bad-ass guitar kings. Especially a lot like Alvin Lee of the "10 Years After" band. On the country side he has got that Danny Gatton and Albert lee picking down! I am very impressed at how versatile he is and his dedication to being himself. I hope to see a lot more of JD!

I think I could listen to JD for hours. Great advice and tips from a down to earth guy. I have to add, I’ve sounded atrocious on slide guitar longer than he’s been alive. 😂

Why do people in the audience keep talking all the time? How disrespectful. And no, it's not just an interpreter, it's multiple people.

Haha the part about the slide in the beginning sounds terribly familiar =p So hard to hit the right notes on a dark stage with people staring at you. Just gotta let it rip!

Great video of a serious guitar player! I just wish the camera man moved over to show the front of the guitar so we could see what he's doing.

Give this boy a big cigar, 'music is supposed to emit an emotion' - Yes - too many guitar players are getting hung up on scales, modes, chord progressions - play your guitar with genuine feeling and you will be light years ahead.
