Nicely done. Straight to the point with no big intro advertising your channel. Also, I love how you have your work space bright and decluttered. It helps keep us ADD guys from getting distracted - HAHAHA!!! Keep making videos like this and I'm sure your channel will grow into something huge. Sub earned.

How do you size the Amp of the breakers? each, pv disconnect and battery bank?
@trevorbelmont4633Ай бұрын
Its ok to go Big on the Current Rating on these DC breakers if you only need it to be purely for disconnect right? I have two 550w panels with 14A Isc and a breaker disconnect of 25A, seems too big.. But also can you talk about adding Fuse Holders and SPD together with that disconnect for you incoming cable from Solar Panels? Coz if seen most people do that..

I don't think those are necessarily grab handles but more of guards to protect the front panel. But hey they also double has grab handles. I mean that's what I use them for. Lol

As an Electrician with 40+ years' experience hearing someone say "if in doubt just go big" is an absolute dumb way to design a protective circuit. Let's summarise what a circuit breakers task is = to break the circuit in case of overload to PROTECT the circuit and thereby possibly protecting property and people from the consequences of overloaded electrical cabling e.g. fire hazards. How is it going to protect a circuit if it is not designed for that particular circuit...go big??? great .....circuit breaker wont trip but the cabling will overheat....good design. I won't go into how many other mistakes were made on this video....as the one I have highlighted should be sufficient for people looking for direction on their installations to skip this one.
@logun19702 ай бұрын
Amazon reviews have a lot of reviews listing it as "died within (fill in time frame here)". Victron has a 5 amp for like $85 and has bluetooth... I think I'll skip this one.

I recently bought a HTRC charger for my LiFePO4 100ah battery. The charger display shows 14.2 charging volts but using 3 different multi meters I see only 13.6v at the battery. Now I'm concerned about it actually charging properly.

After your review i bought this. I'm using this charger on 2x 12V 65A Lead Acid batteries (connected in parallel) as a backup power to the solar panels which get a lot of shade due to clouds. This 12V in turn go via a step up 12v to 24v booster to my emg. power gen. with 24v LiP04 batteries and keep that topped up. Works so far!

I just purchased the same brand DIHOOL, though mine is a 60 AMP with Female/ Male MC 4's on input and output ( top/bottom). Our system is small system with 9x100 watt panels on the sheds roof feeding a Zendure Superbase V 4600. The Zendure SBV4600 is an expandable unit that takes whats called Zendure SBV 4600 Satellite battery units, and it can keep expanding up to 46,000 (46K) Wh if needed. The Unit itself weighs about 121 pounds, and its on wheels, and the 2 out of the 4 wheels are powered in which it can be controlled on your cellphone through their APP.

With intention to protect my solar system against overcurrent and allowing to isolate system when you want to work on it (unless you can switch off the sun). However, read / view some test people have done with several of the "cheap" to buy (polarized) solar breakers, when the circuit is openen with the breakeran arc frames up and burns down the breaker and then the flammable material around it like roof, RV and that is not cheap at all, interrupties a DC current for a voltage some 50V is no joke: arc / stick wilders use this to on one spot create a lot of heat to melt 2 precies of steel together...As the arc is expected to be pushen by permanent magnet insite the extinghuising Chamber the direction of the current requires it to install in the "proper" way, For people who have grounded the aluminium frames of the solar panels also increased the risk of fire in case of a lichting stroke inside rthis grounded structure of alumimum/aluminium. Afdingen faulty breakers is like installing a sprinkler system which pumps gasoline to the affected area making things MUCH worden, 10 years ago in Australia is was "code" to install such breakers and now they are forbidden...For a single panel woth a Voc below 50V such a breaker if properly installed probably want catcher fire and is you open it you want drop from your roof by a shock is you isolate your system for higher string voltages they might and the solar panel is a current source abd completelydifferent than USA split phase utility where neutral is grounded a house site....DO NOT BELIEVE PRINTING ON CHEAP BREAKER WHICH SUGGESTS IT CAN SAFELY INTERRUPT CONTACT UNDER LOAD.....Just check several clips about DC MCB SOLR CATCHING FIRE....

GREAT work! You know one the most important aspects to a quality 'at home' demonstrator: MUSIC. As soon as I hear stupid music I kill the video in .05837 seconds. If, when I'm hearing it, it is also way to loud to hear the presenter, I think I can make the video kill in .003 seconds (depending on how loud the music has been mixed in, or how annoying the music is).

Read reviews on Home Depot / Lowes....Dewalt suggests no heated tools (no microwave, no heaters, etc) but im glad you still tested it to see how it handles it. How long do you think this could run on 12v dettached battery like in your set up, using 700/800W continuously before having to recharge the battery? Also, Harbor Freight Tools suggest RV rated 12v batteries for one of their inverters. Any thoughts on that?!

8 Gauge wire on a 100 amp breaker??
@allens74762 ай бұрын
The rating of the breaker is irrelevant. It's big enough to never trip, so it acts like an on/off switch. The wire size is matched to the solar panels and the distance to minimize voltage loss..
