I was assistant armorer on Spike TV's Deadliest Warrior for 2 of 3 seasons under Master Armorer, Gary Harper. We had live, blank and dummy rounds on set. Each ammo can was clearly marked and no one but an Armorer was allowed to touch the ammo. No ammo was ever not under control. The fact that we shot (pun intended) this show and there were ZERO accidents says a lot for our lead, Gary Harper, and his assistants., Mike Gilliland and Victoria "Tori" Wagner.

Quick edit: That's pretty awesome, I should have led with that, lol. In my experience, I'd put like 10 hours into something like this with trial and error. I'd be hassled by the director incessantly about why the prop isn't ready yet. Then after 1 rehearsal, they wind up cutting the scene anyway. Which is why I got out of technical theatre and starting working behind a desk for a non-profit. lol. Sorry, my show-biz related PTSD gets the best of me sometimes.

Decades ago I was on vacation when a friend (a movie/sitcom extra) showed my picture to her agent. They shocked me with an invitation to being an extra at a shoot on Venice Beach. All I had to do was walk along the sidewalk. The problem, it was a long range shot so I didn't even know the position of the camera. Then they abruptly stopped all the walkers (including me) and a woman on a headset walked up to me and asked me to step out of the scene. Apparently, without knowing I was looking in the direction of the camera! 😮 I was confused and a little disappointed. While I was being a young smart-ass about it a man walked up to me and said, "don't worry about it. Stick around over here for 10 minutes." Later he returned to me. Evidently, he was one of the show producers and liked my screen presence. He had me follow the crew to another site about 10 mins East of the beach down an alley for a shoot in front of a building. They told me to just stand on the corner and look down at my watch. I didn't dare look up. The movie came out 18 mos later and I was clearly visible for about 8 full seconds in the background! The best part is if you look real close you'll notice I wasn't even wearing a watch! 😂

Eating prop food and pretending to enjoy it while also still focusing on the scene seems like it would be one of the hardest parts of screen acting to me
