they have had 3 cup worthy lineups that came up short. key players too banged up to bring their A game. i was in my 20's for the '82 cup run and vancouver was just happy to be there. they really shouldn't have been in the final. the west coast express team had a contending lineup but naslund, the art ross winner got taken out at the end of the season. in my opinion the '94 team was the best team they have iced but the best one ever will be a version of this current group.

I like what they did. They spread the money around. Nobody is going to want to come to Vancouver next year because they'll leave wearing ice bags and taking painkillers. And the scoring depth looks good too. Heinen is a bottom 6 forward with 18 goals. What line do you put your shutdown unit against? Even if you manage to shut down the top 2 lines, the Canucks have enough scoring depth in the bottom 6 and grit to burn you. Yes, they could have used another top 4 D. But there's only so much money to spend and they still have some cap flexibility to add or tweak as the season goes along. They're a more balanced team than they were last year. Allvin said when he came to Vancouver that he wanted a team that was hard to play against. I look at that roster and I now I need a Tylenol. Or something stronger.
