I love the photography, the Goshawks and even the music. But I think what I love most, is the recognition of the falconers. Your channel might be the best goshawking channel on KZbin. Congrats to you!🏆

Hey Old school, thank you once again for your comments, probably the best comment I could have recieved as its very important to me to make sure I recognise the community of my regular hawking group/friends. Really appreciate your comment, means a lot to a simple guy just sharing his goshawking! 👍

Great video, but once again spoiled by crappy music. Even if it's only the grunting and commands of the humans, at least it's part of the natural events of the day. We come here to watch the birds, be part of the sounds of nature - not to listen to some crappy music.
@goshawker1Ай бұрын
I'm no production specialist Philip, just a guy practising his own interests and sharing some of the flights with those interested. The music is very much background uninteresting, it is crappy, but it better than wind, breathing and slow motion voices, just mute your TV and watch the birds. 🤝

Great video again and thanks. Perhaps one request - is it possible not to have the distracting music. Silence is lovely and just the sounds of nature. I find the music spoils what would be an otherwise perfect video.
@goshawker1Ай бұрын
Thanks Philip, unfortunately the sounds of nature are often obscured by heavy breathing and verbal encouragement for the flight. The music is slightly annoying to me too.... but a silent video seems a little unfinished. I've thought about narrative, but in honesty, I'm just a guy sharing the spectacle of my sport. In future I'll try to come up with something.... Maybe you could just mute the sound, but thanks for watching and commenting.

I han a Sparrowhawk named "La bruja" Wich is the same as "The witch" in Spanish. That is the only accipiter I have flown so far. I'd love to try with a Gos.
@goshawker1Ай бұрын
Sparrowhawks are great little birds, you have to fly the right hawk for the quarry you have access to. Great to hear there's another "The Witch" out there.
@raulishnikovdancer2346Ай бұрын
@@goshawker1 Yeah. I live in the Mexico city area, so there's a lot of different quarry in the contiguos states for practically all of the falconry birds. From tiny birds and squirrels to big birds and hares. Even to hunt with eagles, but is my impression there's no that many hares to fulfill an eagle's capacity. Also we had open spaces, hilly zones, woodland. You may have to travel 2 hours or 3 in order to get to the desired zone/landscape and kind of quarry you are up to. The problem nowadays is narcs are everywhere and is not very safe to go deep in to isolated areas. Is funny but all of the paraphernalia surrounding falconry may look suspicious for this groups. prismatics, receivers, transmitters, vests, boots, trucks. pointing dogs etc. As this ppl don't like intruders in their territory and are quite paranoical in regards of the goverment actions against them.
@goshawker1Ай бұрын
@raulishnikovdancer2346 safety first I guess, I can imagine it's a dilemma with potentially serious consequences. Fingers crossed you get to try a goshawk at some time, but a sparrowhawk can provide you with great sport until then. Take care 👍
@raulishnikovdancer2346Ай бұрын
@@goshawker1 Yes. Is a life risk to go out hawking in some places. Sparrowhawks are very nice. I have flown harrises, several kind of falcos including a Barbary. But accipiters just La Bruja.

@Thewelshhawker Young Rapha is doing great, he's now killing on almost every outing and has no fixed preference on quarry type. He's set to make a good head count in his first year and is providing Ian with quality dynamic sport. Good luck with your own hawks 🤞

Rapha is The Witch's first youngster bred earlier this year. He's been doing really well on partridge since they came into season and now on pheasant. This was his first time in rabbit ground and he took to it in typically committed fashion. Thanks for your comments 👍

Hi Leggy, early season hunting weight is currently 1340 grams. She will increase as the season develops depending on multiple factors like flight time, quarry selection, temperature ect.

@goshawker16 ай бұрын
Experience in management is something that improves with time, I prefer a high perch on the weathering lawn and use a drum perch within the overnight mews. Goshawks, like all birds can be difficult to manage, but sometimes with a couple of very simple alterations and care, you can make a big difference.

It's a blast teaching a young Goshawk, "The Sport of Falconry."
@goshawker111 ай бұрын
Have to agree OSH, the thought of creating something proficient from a raw material by offering experiences designed to educate a hawk towards positive results.... its a very addictive hobby. This young hawk was bred by a friend who was flying her until he suffered knee injury. Now another friend has guided her through the end of the season and she's progressed nicely.

@alisontaylor7511 The pointer 'Ruby' is owned by my friend Ian who is flying the hawk, she's a great staff member steady little worker and goshawks are traditionally flown over pointers.
