Speaking as a cyclist, that was the cyclist's fault. He rode up the inside of the cab as it executed a left turn, the indicator is flashing and the cyclist ignored all of the dangers. It was good to see the issue resolved amicably but cyclists do not have automatic right of way even if they are in a cycle lane. That cab was ahead of the cyclist. He was indicating a left turn and the cyclist rode through his blind spot. Traffic awareness is an obligation of the cyclist more than the cab driver due to their diminished visual profile.

As a daily cyclist in London for 15 years, I'd say other cyclists present the most danger to me on the road. And also as a pedestrian. It's got worse since lock-down, the rise of bike uber eats etc and lime bikes. 90% of people see green crossing lights as their sign to go. Zebra crossings - forget it, it's a total lottery. The amount of people cycling at a fair pace on pavements has also shot up. And the arrogance of people when they're pulled up on it is astounding. I get why motorists hate people on bikes.

Cyclists are dangerous for the UKj roads. It's not Amsterdam where the infrastructure is primarily built with cyclists in mind.

I go through red lights all the time. I love it. And often in view of the police, who never do anything. This guy was unlucky. Maybe they thought he was a tourist since he was on a Lime bike. If you can't run red lights / cycle on pavements etc on a bike what's the point in riding one!

I'm surprised that all the other following cyclists didn't mob the police, because we all know how "special" cyclists are.

I am sick to death of cyclists thinking they are above the law and sick of other cyclists not calling them out for it. So thank you for showing this and a thank you to the other cyclists for saying that its wrong. My sister is partially blind and profoundly deaf. She was knocked over on a pavement and had her arm broken by a cyclist at the age of 70 it was an ordinary pavement not a shared pavement. The self centredness of riding on the pavement is just such a bad thing to do. The police in London are a disgrace for not stopping it, and it's now electric bikes as well. The insanity of having shared pavements with bikes to protect them whilst at the same time putting the deaf, blind, elderly, disabled, children, vulnerable, and pedestrians at risk is a disgraceful decision. If you want to encourage more cycling then build cycle lanes. But at the same time, make sure that cyclists do not ride on the pavement and put the vulnerable at risk. The pavement was built for people to protect them, and now we have taken that safe haven away that's pure insanity.

I'm not supporting running reds, but on this basis shouldn't people who walk when it's not a green man also be punished? It's very context dependant

I am a club cyclist and was riding trough Hereford last year, i stopped at the traffic lights on the new bridge. another cyclist with all of the fancy clothing and a £7000 bike went straight through on red. When I got going again, i eventually caught the offending rider, and had a go at him, i told him that apart from being against the law, he's tarring every cyclist with the same brush, no doubt he ignored me, but at least I vented my frustration at him and his type.

It's about time. I am so tired of self-righteous cyclists dussing every other type of road and pavement user. Stopping traffic with pedestrian crossings and then leaving the crossing ahead of the traffic against there'd light they just initiated. Using pavements when the traffic is too congested .. as if it's their godgiven shortcut. Rules for all road users are there for everyone's safety. Respect, please.

Happens all the time in Brighton, uk. As a car driver you have to be so carefull as pedestrians and cyclist consistently and dangerously disregard junction crossing lights. Laws that arent policed and enforced arent laws at all, and bad cyclists and pedestrians know and exploit this.

If you're a cyclist that regularly jumps the lights then come to Southampton. You can do it in front of the police and they will leave you alone.

Police should have kept the emergency lights on during the stop.
