I was looking for a method to do it without a plug-in, in the end I opted to create a pattern. I go to the page/post that I set up, copy all the blocks from the dotted menu, create a new pattern and paste. I create a new page/post, click on + and go to select the pattern created. This method does not maintain tags or categories, but it is better, not all pages have the same tags/categories.

This was exactly what I needed! Also, the CSS helped me figure out how to hide titles as well. Thank you a bunch!

how can i make the same header that will be above the sidebars?

You'd have to build your own sidebar in the blog post template.

Hey Adam, if I may ask, in your newsletter (Design to Dollars) in the query loop, above each title you have the numbering for each post (#001, #002), how did you add that?
@adamwrightdesign12 күн бұрын
It's just using a Custom Field, and I manually enter the issue number in the editor. It's then dynamically pulled in through a headline block.

Interesting. At 1:57 your outter container was full width when Block Alignment was = Default. In my test, the container is only as large as the global container width set in the customizer (1200 px). Your site element must override the Container Alignment setting on the Container property. (The max-width sizing is not set to the global property in the block settings, either. Hmm)

Yes, I have a Layout Element setup, with full width enabled there. I always have this as a base for my layouts.

Thank you Adam. I have encountered a similar situation: I used a migration plugin and altered the domain. The sitemap url all of sudden stopped working. Re-saving the permlinks did the trick.

@adamwrightdesign, how did you overlay the site-header-navigation on top of the CPT page hero at 10:00? Thank you!
@adamwrightdesign18 күн бұрын
Create a new Header Element in GeneratePress, and enable Merge Header - this will allow your page content to overlap the nav!

Great tutorial as ever Adam. Please excuse my confusion but why use ACF? Isn't it just as easy to create individual pages with galleries?
@badcatdesign19 күн бұрын
I think the bigger concept here is by using a separate post type (gallery), then any new gallery post added automatically gets pulled into the query loop on the Work page. Now there's no need to manually update that page. That's somewhere around @12:20
@hjn1995318 күн бұрын
You can add standard galleries to post, page... and then use Query Loop to create a section e.g. "Latest Galleries" just like "Latest Articles". Here Adam uses ACF to create a CPT and you can use other plugins like CPT UI to achieve the same. His main point is demonstrating Query Loop + CPT. He also creates a Content Template for the CPT, which is excellent.
@adamwrightdesign18 күн бұрын
Thanks Andy! Glad you asked. Going this custom post type route, you're not only able to call to it specifically, like mentioned below, in Query Loops and Dynamic Data, but you also keep the backend of your site more organized. Any chance I can get to separate out my content, I try and do it (as long as it makes sense). Plus, we created a specific Element Content Template that needed to be applied to ONLY the gallery pages, so it's also easier to select a post type to apply it to, rather than each individual page you would create. Hope that helps!

Hello Adam, I wouldn't even know how to even add a Flex without this video. Thank you so much! When I was adding columns, I always simply used Grid. I'd love to see if you can compare Grid with Flex in some videos!

Very clear video, but the title of the video is a bit misleading. This is really setting up local color styles, not global styles. From the title, I was hoping this video would explain how to publish color styles to a library.

It is clear that you know your way around the GP editor and have a lot of knowledge to share. As a person brand new to the GP editor, thinking that a simple 404 page was a good way to learn my way around it, I was constantly confused. I had no idea where you were clicking and finding the parts you were adjusting. You started out good with "click here on Elements" and then it was all downhill for me from there. My suggestion is to do a LOT more talking about what you're doing so viewers who are new can keep up.

Great video. So how does 'Block Alignment' fit into layouts or is this redundant? I used to use this to control container widths (before flex). The three options of 'Default', 'Wide' and 'Full' allowed me to stay contained or burst out of the 'Global Max Width'. The flex solution seems odd since you also need to create a 'Full width site layout element' in order to allow some blocks to expand outside of the 'Global Max Width'.
@adamwrightdesign29 күн бұрын
I honestly have never used the Block Alignment setting - feels redundant to me and my processes.

hi Adam, thank you for doing this, we love your tuts. I am in the process to change my theme to Generatepress ( I have my site in a staging phase, have a staging site set up and testing things out ) what are important things to do when I bring my staging site online? ( replacing live site ) e.g. do I need to change all links? can you refer to a checklist?
@adamwrightdesign29 күн бұрын
Thank you! Going live really depends on your host - far too many variables on how that should go to be able to give you a single answer.
