Sorry, but it is entirely up to the person presenting the claim (eg. "God created life", "God created morals") to prove the claim. Please provide indisputable proof of a God and that that God did the things you claim. At first, slavery was one of main points why I disagreed with a bible, now I am starting to view slavery as good. Not slavery as in "You are my property" but along the lines of forced, unpaid workforce. And it would only be applied to prisons where it is clear that criminals are only subjects. Let's be truthful, prisons don't rehabilitate people, rather than using tax money to support them, why not use them as physical laborers. Also, churches without any decorations are not a minus for me. if they aren't asking for money, then I would trust them more knowing that this church doesn't care about money or looking fancy like ALL OF THE OTHER CHURCHES.

Depends which type of slavery you're talking about. There are rules for Hebrew slaves that is more like indentured servitude. Then there are rules for non-Hebrew slaves, such rules as how much you can beat them and how you can pass on these slaves as property for your children to inherit... Simply boils down to that guy doesn't understand sufficiency when it comes to evidence. Now to be fair Matt did a poor job of defining evidence but for the same reason eye witness testimony of aliens isn't good enough for that claim, the writings that supposedly people testified that the supernatural occured isn't good enough for that claim.
@WienArtist
@WienArtist 3 жыл бұрын
@@giardaphslaw5572 The real truth is that a person who claims to be an atheist will always refuse any evidence because it will never fit their definition of evidence. Even if God would come to them personally, they would claim that they were hallucinating, and sluff it off as invalid. Incidentally, an atheist really should make more modest claims in the first place, instead of going around claiming that God does not exist, because they have no evidence or proof of that claim. They ought to make more modest claims, as in admitting that they are agnostics, since that is at least honest. The other point I would make is that there are many more people who consider that there IS much evidence for God's existence, against what atheist fail to accept. In regard to the law of non-contradiction, both viewpoints cannot be right. I will adhere to the position that makes the most logical sense - that there is much more evidence for the existence of God than no evidence that he does not exist. Oh, and emotional appeals against his non-existence do not apply. For example, the laws of physics negatively impact (literally and figuratively) a great deal of people, and crying about their effects does not invalidate their existence; like getting mad at the law of gravity when I fall and break a bone - does not make a good argument that gravity does not exist just because I don't like it.

@@WienArtist First of all if a god were to personally reveal himself to me and was able to prove it was actually a god, for instant create something tangible that I could keep, I would then believe that god exists obviously. Secondly agnostics are atheists, I'm an agnostic atheist. Like you've just pushed against gnostic atheism and in the same way I think any gnostic theists are dishonest. There either is a god/gods or there is not, what I'm saying is either position hasn't been proven so I withhold belief. You seem to be saying 'well lots of people believe there is a god so that must be true.' I don't see how emotional appeals against a god's existence apply but ok. Finally I want to mention that at one point people vbelieved the weather was directly caused by gods. Does this mean we should believe the weather is caused by gods? I don't think so. Like anything we investigate scientifically is based on real evidence, anything I've seen theists explain with god is based on ignorance. (Like the weather, natural disasters or how life started and how this universe came into existence.)

@@WienArtist Also you kept saying many people 'consider' there is much evidence for a god's existence. Could you maybe provide such evidence instead of pointing to people who think they have evidence? Keep in mind we don't have to prove that a god doesn't exist to NOT believe it does exist. We would have to prove he doesn't exist to believe it does NOT exist. If you can understand that then you'd stop with this 'well we have some evidence it does exist and no evidence to show it doesn't exist'. Revelation does not consent doubt! (Act 1:3) to whom he also showed himself alive after his passion by many proofs, appearing unto them by the space of forty days, and speaking the things concerning the kingdom of God: (Jas 1:6) But when you ask for something, you must have faith and not doubt. Anyone who doubts is like an ocean wave tossed around in a storm.

While i see your point, i do not think that you have to first believe something for the proof of that thing to present itself. If i said "I just got a new dog!", you would probably just take my word, but if i were, say, super allergic to dogs, you would probably doubt me. If i then showed up the next day, with a dog, even if you didnt first have faith that i had a dog, the evidence has presented itself. Now heres the thing: I am not an omnipotent being. I am not immortal. Every second i spend on earth is precious because there is nothing, no matter what i believe, that awaits me after death. Why would an all-knowing, all-powerful being with an infinite amount of time on his hands require for us to believe in him, and THEN find proof that he exists? I mean, the Ancient Greeks have moved past such reasoning before they figured out how to forge anything with iron. Imagine that. And if God created us specifically with the way we reason in mind, or, at least, he was guaranteed to know we would reason in this way, why would he fail to put forward sufficient proof that he exists? Its not like hes busy being God. All he does is put the virgin mary's face onto pieces of toast, and shape cheetos like Jesus. Whats stopping him from descending down in all his glory and saying "I AM GOD! THE CHRISTIAN GOD! THE GOD OF PRESLUTHERBYTERIAGELICALIST CHURCH OF LATTER-DAY WITNESS BAPTISTS! NO OTHER CHURCH IS TRUE!", and bada-bing bada-boom, your religion, and yours alone, is correct. What we have, is an all-loving being spending his time creating children and babies in 3rd-world countries for the sole purpose of following the wrong religion and going to hell because he failed to create sufficient food. Even if the Christian God of the KJV were real, the one true God, i would never bend a knee to him. It is for that reason, and for the reason of all that which he has done in the Bible, that he presents himself as a whiny, impotent, useless, powerless fuck-up. Seriously: Read the KJV again, but every time God does something, think "What would _I_ do?" And by time the flood comes around, youd be an atheist.

There are far more atheists than ever get reported. Just like the LGBT community it requires people to see that it's ok to come out. When I know there are other people like us then I find a courage to declare who I am. This started in western Europe about 20 years ago and now we are at least 50% plus of the population and churches are dying. Within the under 30s this number is far higher almost 80%. Religion is already dying. But like all dying things it kicks and screams and lies. But in the end it still dies.

I can relate... I grew up in Mobile, Alabama. I am actually NOT an Atheist per se. Southerners can be WORSE. I have alot of racist religious people in my family. Last Christmas my Mom threatened to stab me while waving a 14" knife in my face. I had to call the cops. Most of My family demonized me for calling the cops. It was sad... They would rather side with her than me because she was higher up in the social order than myself. I am no longer a fundamentalist Bible believer. That is a ridiculous view IMO. I love the AE show. Big fan!! It has really encouraged me!!
