I don't think soooo? NO! not a good idea! There are a few things to consider....1. Pommys are worth a lot of money! $$$ as most of them are pure bread and purchased from a breeder! They can cost from....$250-$10K just for one dog! So you would not leave your diamond necklace in the backyard for very long unattended? 2. Poms also are small and curious! They like to get into stuff! So you don't want them to get into trouble! Its like having a toddler around! You cant just leave them unattended to fair for themselves! You must keep an eye on them at all times! You can train them with a small water bottle or treats! They can be trained! 3. Poms also have a "THICK" coat and can overheat or get too hot in the summer sun! So you must keep your Pom in an airconditioned home or room temp place! You don't want them too hot or too cold! They do not do well in extreme temps! So just leaving them outdoors is not going to work out well for them! Perhaps choose a larger dog breed that does well in the outdoors? You can ask at your local Petco.com or Petsmart.com for your local area! They also have local breeder info, dog foods, dog clothes, dog products, and dog toys, and dog vet onsite! So you can get ALL YOUR DOG NEEDS THERE IN ONE STOP! ITS GREAT! My lil YOYO loved to go there! And he knew he would always get a FREE COOKIE, toys and goodies! SO IT WAS ALWAYS A FUN EXPERIENCE FOR HIM THERE! AND THEY ALSO HAVE LOTS OF FREE HOLIDAY EVENTS AND CONTESTS! YOYO WON THE HALLOWEEN COSTUME CONTEST SEVERAL TIMES! AND WON ALL KINDS OF PRIZES! I trained my previous pom to do agility. He really seemed to love it. It was just homemade backyard stuff though. My current pom doesn't really care for agility but he did respond to some trick training. Other than the basic obedience stuff, he can back up, twirl, give paw, do 'bang, you're dead', walk a figure 8 around my legs, and will go around a vertical pole, tree, etc. on command. Now I just wish he'd pick up Be Quiet! 😅

Origin of Pomeranian is from North East Germany. 200 years ago they was shepherd dogs (big size). German vets change characteristics of this breed for necessity. They needed a breed to escort german ladies during walks. So, they decided to use Pomeranians as such. Depends on the individual person or how low or high functioning the autism is not to mention any person with a disability needs to know how to handle a dog properly no matter it's size. I have autism myself and love pomeranians I know for a fact that they are very fragile dogs so they can easily get hurt due to their small size they are best with responsible people I probably wouldn't recommend them to most people with disabilities or children because if the dog is not properly handled they can either get hurt due to their small size or they could bite the person who tormented the dog in the first place. But if the kid or autistic person knows how to properly take care of a dog and a small one at that then its no problem. pomeranians like any other dog make wonderful companions if they are trained right and looked after. poms are loveable & loyal always protective of their owners & they are always happy to see you when you get back home they also make great guard dogs despite their small size they are always quick to alert you on intruders most pomeranians unlike other dogs also get on well with cats if properly trained to do so. However they do however require a lot of grooming due to their thick coats and they can easily get intimidated by big dogs or get into fights the dogs are also somewhat yappy and can suffer with separation anxiety poms should never be left alone for long periods of time they require a lot of attention & its also not a good idea to leave a pomeranian in a high place they could get hurt. So yeah it depends on the individual if this dog is right for them.
