This was my Aunt Helen's favorite station to listen to back in the day. Her favorite DJ was Ron Lundy. She loved them all, from the morning mayor, all the way down the line. But she loved Ron so much, that whenever she did house cleaning, she never ran the vacuum, from 9-12. She wasn't the type of person to let things bother her much, but when Jack-a** FM took over, she was not happy. But when CBS returned a couple years later, she was happy. I'll always remember her love for this station, and how she kept it on, from 8am-5pm during the week.

❤W HAT A ASTONISHINGLY BRILLIANT and BEAUTIFUL WOMAN Petula Clark is. Without doubt a beyond tremendous song co-written by Petula herself. @@rigaudien My favorite moment of the final night of the first incarnation of the KHJ calls back in 1986, when KHJ was billing itself as "Car Radio" was Robert W. Morgan doing a phoner with a listener, finding out he was in the auto industry and then: Morgan: You're in the car business? Listener: Yes. Morgan: Well, we're getting out of it! (Jingle then music). Which sadly proves the rule about management hating "goodbye" shows. The last few minutes of the show are jockless, because some RKO General executive heard what was going on and told Dave Sebastian Williams to turn off the mics. We never actually heard "last words." Morgan was between jobs (KMGG and KMPC), and Williams was supposed to do a show with some phoners from former Boss Jocks. Morgan showed up instead and rapidly turned Williams into a board op. A wickedly funny aircheck with dozens of great moments...including the perpetuation of the feud between Morgan and Tuna.... (paraphrased): _What made KHJ great were the people...from the very highest company executive down to the lowest person at the station...who of course, was Charlie Tuna_. (jingle: Robert W. Morgan-93/KHJ!) and as the intro to the record rolls, Morgan comes back with: _I'll never understand it...all that money for his hair and not one dime on his teeth!_.

The French version of a "B side" from Petula's English/British recordings. The "A side" is "You'd Better Come Home." The "B side" is called "Heart" in English and "La Coeur Qui Bat" in French. It is ASTOUNDING just how incredibly brilliant this song really is . And is yet again a superb song co-written by the Multi-Talented Petula who once again brings proof to the table (and in no way is it needed) that Petula Clark was THE standout star of the Sixties and Seventies. In 1965 Petula sang this song LIVE on "The Ed Sullivan Show" and her totally stunning performance as to be seen to be believed IT IS TREMENDOUS. It is available on You Tube it is Petula Clark at her excellent best. (Filmed in black and white.)

The same thing was done over here in the UK. BBC Radio 1 in the 70s & 80s had 26 million listeners per week. The commercial stations couldnt touch it. Then in 1993 a new controller with a new agenda. Sack all the old DJs who had been there for years and replace them with younger voices. The music policy was changed too. nothing older than 5 years was to be played. Within 2 years they lost most of their audience and Radio 1 went FM only ditching its 1053/1089 am frequencies. It was never the same again. Today BBC Radio 2 is number one with 15 million listeners. Radio 1 is third with 9 million behind BBC Radio 4.
