William regal censors himself too much. I know why but its irratating.

Never heard anyone say one good word about Les Kellett. Even Jackie Pallo, one British wrestling biggest stars ever, say "I hope Les is in a good mood." before getting in the ring, you know he was for real.

Watching Les Kellett's matches are glorious fun. The Brian Glover match is absolutely hilarious. The technical wrestling thrown between the comedy is also really great stuff for the old British style.

My first ever live wrestling was a mostly ‘tribute’ show done by Brian Dixon in Southampton at the Guildhall. They had ‘The U.K. Warrior’, they had a fat and short hairy guy who was being Razor Ramon but looked more like Razor Ruddock and even ‘The Legend of Doom’ who gets a mention in one of Chris Jericho’s books. BUT… I also got to see the real McCoy in The Dynamite Kid, teaming with Johnny Smith as The British Bruisers! I remember thinking that this guy was special and that he must have killed one of his opponents with a clothesline 😆

Funny thing was people have harshly criticized alex shane for bashing dixon for doing the "tribute" shows.

To explain to those outside of fhe UK, Blackpool has for many years now been viewed negatively. That negativity comes from a rise in homelessness and/or the presence of drug users. This is amplified by the fact that the economy there rose with tourism and fell with the advent of cheaper foreign holidays in the last 40+ years. It means parts have fallen into sub-standardnsss and spoil the look. There is a big "But" with Blackpool though. It isnt an inherently dangerous place to visit. The beach is nice. The Christmas lights have a lot of effort put into them and the majority of people there want to see Blackpool do well and have pride. I think snobbery is what damaged Blackpool and what makes everything hes just said in this interbiew that much more impressive. I suspect hes a millionaire a few times over.

for people in the north of england blackpool was especially for the working class a way of having a fun time and escapism from the stresses of working, where im from it only took about a hour to get to and was always fun when i was a kid, the tower circus was pretty good from what i remember, funny years later i saw a film from tim burton and the climax of the film was set in the tower circus just seeing samuel l jackson in blackpool tower i found funny , the only thing weirder i saw was robert deniro filming a bagel commercial in BOLTON!!

I wanted to drop this here, doesn't matter if William sees it or not. I have battled substance abuse issues for more years that I care to admit. A number over 10, let's just leave it there. I met Regal back in 2008, in Richmond Virginia, after a Raw had concluded for the night. To be honest, I figured he would have told me to toss off, if you don't mind me stealing a local Brit saying. Not only did he take the time to talk to me, he told me to reevaluate my life, and ask myself if I was happy being addicted to the substances I were consuming, which were of the prescribed verity. I have to say, recovery is always an ongoing battle, yet I finally quit the years lost, and broke those chains I bound myself in. The podcast has been one of the better ones, perhaps I am a bit bias of course. I wish Regal and Matt well, in both mental and physical health, as well as reminding Regal he was a major help, as sometimes all we need is someone to verbally hit us in the jaw with a strong worded wake up call. Thank you again for the time, may the sun illuminate your way home.

I just caught the last part of the match and yes that butterfly suplex looked stiff, like Regal had to deadlift Inoki up and damn that choke was legit as Regal went down like a bag of bricks. Sucks that he got legit KO'd but those moves are no joke.

Used to go to Blackpool on Holidays. My dad would never take me to the Horseshoe to watch the wrestling. I had the temerity to get cross because I had to go and see Cannon and Ball instead. Bobby Ball was just as funny as all tits.

1993 - I was live at Blackpool Tower watching Steve Regal against the 6’11” 40 stone (600lbs) Giant Haystacks. - Regal ko’d by Stax. - Stax entered the arena to the song Suicide Blonde by INXS. - Haystacks never came out to any theme tune before, so I figured he’d chosen that song specifically for Regal, to rile him up. - There seemed to be some legitimate friction between the two. - They both seemed in a particularly foul mood.
