Twelve years ago I bought two baby blue hydrangeas which turned pink within two weeks. I replanted them in ericasious compost & watered them with Aluminium sulphate & they turned bright blue. Two years ago they had become too large for the pots so they were planted in the ground & no matter how much AS they get plus coffee grounds they're now a mixture of pink & purple. I've also had hydrangeas turn pink although they were immediately planted in ericasious compost. I have a total of seven 'blue' hydrangeas but only three are actually still blue. I wish it were as easy as it looks in your video.

dude, get a door that has a strong hinge. try and place the walnut edge side(where it opens from) in contact with the door and the wall and try to gently move the door inwards so the force will crack the shell a bit. remember to gently do it otherwise the whole walnut will crack open into pieces

If there is no sun, how do you dessicate the seed? Do you need to remove the fiber/filaments surrounding the seed before drying?
@Algae_algae
@Algae_algae 3 күн бұрын
Hello, this is Algae. Thank you for your question :) Never dessicate mangosteen seeds. You should soak the seeds in water or plant them in soil immediately after collecting them. The 'fibers/filaments surrounding' can be removed with nail clippers and tweezers. It will not cause any major damage if the surface of the seed is scratched. Have a nice day :)

Hello, this is Algae. Thank you for your warm interest :) Three years ago, I went abroad for academic research. I left small mangosteen seedlings at home in Korea, but my family was very bad at taking care of the seedlings. So now, only one small seedling has survived. My academic research will be finished in about three years (2026 or 2027). When I return to Korea, I plan to grow new mangosteen seedlings. At that time, I will prepare a time-lapse video, and I plan to set up a studio for filming videos of agricultural science, including a culture room and mangosteen. Have a nice day :)

My neighbor feeds the squirrels, and I always find pecans buried all over the yard. Today I found what I thought was a weed, pulled it out hard and shook the dirt off. A pecan flew off. I was upset I broke a pecan off the seedling but it had a pretty established root. I replanted and I’m hoping for the best!
@Algae_algae
@Algae_algae 2 күн бұрын
Hello, this is Algae. Congratulations on your valuable experience :) The reason squirrels can act as gardeners and watchmen of the forest is because they forget where their seed storage is. The pecan seedlings you found probably started as a result of a squirrel forgetting where they stored their seeds. Pecan seedlings are quite strong. Even if some parts are broken, they will try to grow another branch and become a strong tree. I hope you grow a huge pecan tree in the future. Have a nice day :)

That’s not a raspberry, its a wineberry!
@Algae_algae
@Algae_algae 2 күн бұрын
Hello, this is Algae. Thank you for sharing your great opinion :) The scientific name of raspberry is 'Rubus idaeus'. The scientific name of wineberry is 'Rubus ellipticus (or Rubus sp.)'. The raspberry in the video is Korean raspberry (Rubus crataegifolius). As you said, Rubus idaeus is not Rubus crataegifolius. However, Rubus crataegifolius is not Rubus ellipticus (wineberry). I think the cultural and linguistic ambiguity in naming between closely related species is one of the things that makes it difficult for me to communicate with foreign friends. In any case, plants called raspberry or wineberry belong to the genus Rubus. So I think it is okay to express it as the raspberry group or Rubus sp. In this video, I used Rubus crataegifolius to tell a story about Rubus sp. Have a nice day :)

Although I am not the person that posted this video, I will answer to the best of my ability. My knowledge is that it depends if the mulberry is male or female. To know that you have to wait and see if the tree fruits or not. I have been told it takes about 4 years although it may be shorter in my experience. I had a small tree (more like a sapling about year or 2 old)up against my house and had not realized at that time it was a mulberry. Since it was up against the house I cut it down to about a 6 in stump last year. When spring hit I noticed the leaves resembled mulberry leaves that we had when I was young so I let it be this year. And let's just say cutting it down did not affect its vigor, as it is about 12ft tall with the large leafs being about 10 inches long. I assumed that it would not fruit this year if it was female, but again I was wrong and it is fruiting nicely, although not ripe yet since it gets shaded most of the day. On the opposite side of the house there is another that it is in a very inconvenient location growing into a gate that leads to a field (with nothing in it but a little grass weeds & (the bane of my existence) Russian olive trees. But being in an inconvenient location I also cut it as much as I could, but again it came back with a vengeance and I let it be, and that one has had fruit that started to be ripe about 2 weeks ago (begining-middle of June) And it has produced a copious amount of fruit that has been enjoyed by birds, chickens, my feeder insects, my 5 year old (she's stripped every branch that she can reach of ripe fruit daily) and of course myself. I imagine we have about another week for that one to finish fruiting, and by that time the one up against the house should be in full fruit production.
