The Computing Brain

Modern AI has harnessed our models of brain function into very powerful applications. But the algorithms from which modern AI derives its successes constitute a really small part of brain dynamics and function. We are yet to understand how biological matter gives rise to the impressive breadth of behavior of the human being. The computing brain minor focuses on ‘understanding’, rather than on ’tooling’ brain function. Its main goal is to prepare students to think about intelligence at large, and enable discovery of the next level AI algorithms via constructive understanding of brain function, via computational modeling.
