Before the Fresh Four original name ( later changed by their MGR ) to The Four Freshmen they sang barber shop & a few other styles before they developed the original style using 5 chords with 4 voice parts using the 5th chord to be flexible in the harmony .

There have been many lineups for the Freshmen over the decades. These four are among the best.

Miss Bob Flanagan sing the lead & humor from Ross but these guys are the closest to the original

They had a rough start & small clubs never heard 4 guys would like an orchestra .but they kept it up then Stan Kenton heard them in Dayton Ohio & the rest is history.

Amazing how they sound just like the original quartet.

These gentlemen seem to be very much the youngest of those I have seen. They have all gone now except one and the 2024 intake do not look so young and look a bit frayed but the sound is just as good.

Quite a contrast with the crap that passes for pop music now.

What is so damned funny about this song? Is surfing funny? It may be the best song they've done in years. The audience needs to pull their head out.

I wish these guys (Bob, Brian, Vince & Curtis Calderón) could do a reunion tour, even if it's just once so fans, including me could see this genius musical chemistry one more time.

The vocal voicings are precise..like the pedals of a rose falling into that altered and inexpressable declaration of his love for her in the one chord....four freshman essence

still the best version of the Freshmen since Albers, Flannigan and the Barbour Bros as far as pure vocal ability. The group with Greg Stegman singing the first part with Kevin, Bob and Brian were the best as regards a combo of vocal and musicians Jazz wise.

Both here have brilliant harmony but I prefer the slower tempo because it allows the song to create a gorgeous mood/atmosphere that is missing with a quicker pace.

I am surprised to learn that Vin Diesel is the drummer of the Four Freshmen. Hehehe. Joke only.
