My problem was a bit different. It would not activate whatsoever. Dived a bit into the menus and saw in the flash settings that the camera seemed to think it had an external flash connected. Problem was some dirt in the hotshoe where there is a tiny button that was stuck.. located on the right side under one of those metal springs. A quick spray with electronic cleaner and a gentle nudge with a toothpick fixed it.

This works for the Canon Rebel too. I found it hard to believe such a little build up on the hinge screw could bind up the flash like that. I cleaned it and it works like new! Thanks!

GUYS PLEASE DONT USE A LOT OF WD40 AND SPRAY IT DIRECTLY ON THE CAMERA BODY!! IT WILL RUIN THE LIVE VIEW SESNOR
@lukewilliams7603 Жыл бұрын
100% do not apply any lubricant directly to the camera, it will ruin your camera. Also don't use wd40, it dries out very quickly. Better to use sewing machine oil or '3-in-1' or some other light machine oil. If you don't have any of those, better to use none!! Innox was a bad recommendation in my video.

Carry out the steps, apply a lubricant and walaaww! great job, thanks bro!

Excellent instructional video, it helped me BIG TIME! I just finished fixing my Canon EOS 70d that its pop-up flash had stop working a few years back. Your instructions were on the money for the preliminary process to access the torsion spring and retaining screw -that even even though were in the opposite side and shorter, worked similarly. Thanks!

Oh-M-GEE! Thanks so much for this self-repair video. My T3i has started having these issues as of lately. I was thinking about sending my camera to Canon to get repaired but now I'm not. I will try this solution on Wednesday. Once again, thanks so much.

@lukewilliams76035 жыл бұрын
You can create a small strip of Teflon tape, width matched to the thread length, and wrap it around the thread 2 - 4 times. Should keep it in there unless you really went hard on it...

Thanks Luke, your video helped me fix my stuck flash on my Canon 60D. Similar but a little different to your camera. The spring is on the shutter button side and spring is smaller. Again, thanks very much! Your video gave me confidence to give it a go 👍👍👍

That's my problem with my 80D, but I can't seem to find a screwdriver small enough to use. Do you know offhand what size is required?
@lukewilliams76035 жыл бұрын
Roughly PH0 PH00. It's been a while and I don't have the camera any more to check. Try a hobby electronics store or eBay.
