Nevermind how big the intensitiy is, in Turkey you do not get astonished/surprised when the buildings collapse. If anyone is curious about the reasons, can message me for briefing.

Why?? No sane structure engineer will ever build a 6 stories structure with any of those materials for a 6 story building. Try reinforced concrete (concrete with steel beams in the core). Only issue with them is water, as it can oxidise the beams and make the structure as brittle as concrete

1:06 Scaffholding falling at 4.8 magnitude make me think to France 2019 quake where 1 people was badly injured by that in Montelimar. Same magnitude.

Interesting to see that 'Big Ben' can remain standing in the same magnitude earthquake as another which topples it depending on circumstances.

Even if a magnitude 10 earthquake were to occur, Japanese people would likely be the first to take to Twitter and tweet about it.

Japan has a long history of natural disasters. Not only earthquakes, but also volcanic eruptions, wind and flood damage, and more. Therefore, every time such disasters strike, civil engineering and construction technology advances. The Great Kanto Earthquake, which killed more than 100,000 people in modern times, occurred a century ago, but is still remembered. This incident led to the strengthening of construction technology and regulations, and the Japan of today exists. From Japan.

Awesome video! I remember asking you a couple of months ago if you could create a new simulation video of the 2001 Nisqually Earthquake (6.8 magnitude) in Washington State. I believe you mentioned that you would, and I’ve been eagerly waiting for it ever since. That aside, I really enjoy your videos and love sharing them with my friends to help them understand what "real" earthquakes are like. Keep up the great work with making these videos and educating others!

The steel building withstood all levels of seismic activity AND another building collapsing on it! It just goes to show that smart piggies build their high rises out of steel.

Okay so when there’s an event where the Entire tectonic plate is oscillating by over a meter… you’ll want to be in a steel building… so you can die slowly in the aftermath when no help comes for 3 weeks
