The line change that cracks me up the most is the omission of "the female remaining single / just in the legal sense." Guess they figured they were already flirting with censorship danger by mentioning "getting the fisheye from the hotel clerk" and had better not further underline that she ain't exactly a virgin after all these years of engagement.

I hadn't noticed that until I saw your note and re-watched it. It's pretty funny that "just in the legal sense" would be considered going too far at the time.

They are pretty difficult to be around to be fair to him, i know the feeling, although, i don't think that's entirely true for him. If people could stop stepping on each others boundaries so much, friends, in laws, neighbours. Be quiet within reason, be polite, give a damn.

In real life he survived by doing these steps, daydreaming and picturing himself in a parade. The daydreaming of The Arc d Triumph Parade kept his mind alive, picturing himself returning home as a hero.

@@patriciafeehan7732 I do remember in the movie he had a dream of being in a parade, and the two prisoners that tried to escape and were killed were waving at him.
@patriciafeehan773229 күн бұрын
@ There was a PBS special with the real Papillon and he explained it was the fantasies in his mind that kept him alive. He said the vision of a Parade was a constant fantasy, he kept his memory on France. He also spoke of doing steps even if there were a few, keeping the mind occupied. Great Movie.

1973 movie version was superior to the remake which cut out some of the best parts.
@jondstewart2 ай бұрын
I don’t think the remake was that good. The setting was a jungles and coast of northern South America. A relentlessly unforgiving climate and hot and humid place. This movie did well portraying it even though it was actually filmed in Jamaica.
