I use the Ezboards and is great, but I wondering to change the others kneeboards pages, Ezboard puts the driefing in page 1 left and page 1 right. So I wish to put my selection in left pages, 2, 3, 4...16 and do the same thing to the right pages.

After many broken jets, and decks here's what I gleaned. Land with a 'go around' in mind, rather than a 'trap' (once sufficient fuel). If its not looking good resist the temptation to drop it onto the deck. 'Live to fight another day'. My mission starts at 13miles/800ft/300knots on the BRC and I've got to do all the configuration. The go around involved staying dirty, on speed, climbing at 5degs to downwind at 30AOB, until 600ft, then when aligned with round down, roll in for another approach. I could get 3 'go around's' in the time it took to restart the mission for the first approach (see #16). As time went on I was getting more traps and less bolters, less damaged gear as I was able to focus more on where on the deck I could put the AC down. I might even suggest keeping the hook up, and just practice touch an go's first. Oh, and record you're attempts, and look at them through the WSO's eyes, to see how far off you are. Just my 0.02$ for what its worth.

What theatre is this?

Great weapon to use with long stand off range, and fire and forget mechanisation. Probably could have explained the HUD and target range symbology on the HSI, but felt they are pretty intuitive, and wanted to keep the demo short.

Get the speed down to 200 before downwind, to help with on-speed. Don't forget the offset of the carrier runway to the boat heading, and that the boat will always be moving to your starboard when you are lined up.

Basket AAR is definitely made easier with VR, and the large basket is easier to focus on than the director lights during boom refuelling. Trick is to push up with the hose on the nose, and when close a small adjustment to put the basket on the probe. Adjust the altitude to keep the nacelle indicator light clearly in the HUD.

Dive bombing requires a high and slow dive onto the target. Probably not enough of either in the demonstration.

While the mavericks can be used in boresight mode, or slaved from HUD as sensor, the best way of deployment is with a targeting pod. While the Laser Maverick can pack a punch, its limited since its range is small, and its got to be guided into the target. Probably best used from lasing from the ground or other aircraft.

The ATFLIR and the Litening II pods have similar performance but their targeting mechanics are notably different, and both work from the HOTAS. If practical, I would suggest that you learn one and just use it, and IRL its unlikely that pilots would be switching between them in a deployment, or even between squadrons.

Navigation in the F18 is all about understanding the HSI page on the DDI. The course line which always runs through the current selected waypoint is genius in its implementation. This along with the autopilot system, greatly reduces the pilots workload of this 4th gen single seat fighter.

LGB's mechanics in the F18 is only made complicated by the differences between the ATFLIR pod and the Litening II targeting pods. Its essential to understand the differences in target acquisition and management using these pods, for LGB mechanisation.

F18 has one of the most comprehensive autopilot systems of any 4th Gen Fighters. Video covers everything except the auto-landing mode for full hands off carrier landings, which is an advanced feature of the F18.

Demonstrates the essentials of the AIM-9X, using no radar, in pure IR mode, and with radar using long range TWS and close range ACM mode, using the HMCS. There are other ACM modes not discussed here, as I don't consider them essential for the use of the weapon.

Took quite a while to get this one right. Definitely shows the limitation of lower resolution VR devices, and poorer contrast. On screen IFLOLS is a real distraction. As bad as the visibility on the ball is, I still find it better and feels more immersive. Still one of the most satisfying procedures that can be done it the virtual skies!

2 years since this upload and it's still one of the best tutorials for understanding "mark points" "offset" "cursor zero" etc. I've been studying all this in the 1F-16CMAM-34-1-1 BMS - AVIONICS AND NONNUCLEAR WEAPONS DELIVERY FLIGHT MANUAL pages 244 to 248, and still couldn't understand the lingo. Now the light bulb illuminated. Thank you!

Whoah, the F-15E's MFD's looks different from most in BMS: Normally, regardless of what plane you use (F-16 or F-15, or whatever other mod), the MFD's end up displaying a pattern that looks kind of like a 3D cube image (since it was used on the F-16). Cool
