TODAY I made egg meat potato cheese burritos. I scrambled all the eggs, cooked slices of potato. no other cooking required. i take 1 burrito, apply butter in centre, add 1 slice tinned meat like spam (already cooked in the can), 2 slices potato, scrambled egg, 1 slice american cheese; ketchup salt, chkn spice, then roll it up and place in labeled bag, 2 units per 1 medium sized freezer bag, then placed in lg freezer bag marked MEP (meat, egg potato) so my hubby knows whats in it. then he heats it up in toaster oven 350F for 20 minutes. QUITE GOOD and fast to make (assemble items on counter when potato slices cooking), then its a 20 minute assembly line; i made 10 breakfast burritos. Much cheaper than adding other ingredients, and faster assembly (no cutting, dicing etc) and 1 pan cleanup, 1 toaster oven tray rinse out from potato slices.

Ty!! Saving the recipe so i can try it!! 🥰 Ill be able to make the sizes i want now too! Yay!! I have one question, if u are still around to answer 🥰 if i want to save the tortillas for say.. burritos later.. should i undercook them a bit? Then when i use them with the filling, finish them off? And how should i store them if so? 🙏 Ur the best! So glad i found u today! 🤗💕 Will go see more recipes!!

@@CarolStewart-s5h hi, thanks so much. I never undercook the tortillas. Just cook them all and you can reheat them later when needed. They last longer if stored in the fridge. Make sure when cooking them that the pan has been preheated and it's a good sign if the tortillas puff up while cooking. 🙂 I've actually been making this recipe instead the last few years which I think tastes even better. 🙂 natashaskitchen.com/flour-tortillas-recipe/

I don’t mean to be mean… but the process in which you made the tacos has me perplexed. I don’t understand why it’s necessary to season the potatos twice. And then the part about not adding salt to the eggs too early is very interesting. I give you an A for effort.

can i use mozzarella as I do not have Parmesan
@DreamingofFood2 жыл бұрын
Mozzarella is a very different cheese. You could use romano cheese instead or another aged dry Italian cheese.
U didn’t mention how much of each just what we need

Is there something like a soft bread end product for croque monsieur? Most youtube recipe show like it's crunchy. I wonder how the one at Starbucks was done. I only taste once though. But it's soft type.

You do not season raw eggs.......big no no.
@Smg_Glxy10 күн бұрын
Um yes tf you do....as soon as you pour them in the pan....start seasoning...it's not like you're eating them raw. Learn you some chemistry

This is not a croque monsieur! The bread should be dipped in egg first like french toast.

Lovely recipe! I think I remember buying it cold from a Patisserie in Paris. It was the first time I had ever had it. So delicious. The ones in Paris were very generous with the ham and cheese and were crunchy. I think I’ll make one tonight 😋

A lot of people will say this is not authentic caso, but I still think it's a clever idea and I'm sure it's delicious. Thank you

I think you did a very nice job and I really appreciate the technique you used to give an onion flavor without the onion texture that many people don't like.

Are there different ways of cooking it? Some recipes call for egg in the sauce and mustard on the sandwich.
@DreamingofFood3 жыл бұрын
I think there's lots of different variations but a lot of them are not correct. This recipe is not my own but it tastes very similar to the croque monsieur sandwiches I ate in Paris. There can be an egg on top of the sandwich and about the mustard I don't think that's authentically in this particular sandwich. I had it several times in Paris and there wasn't mustard. But it's your sandwich when you make it so if you want mustard, add mustard. 🙂 Thanks for the comment!

The whole point is to use ordinary sliced white bread. This is in keeping with cafe culture. Cheap to make but tastes delicious.

What can we use as an alternative for parmesan cheese??
@DreamingofFood3 жыл бұрын
I've never made it with an alternative cheese. It would probably come out best with something similar like Romano cheese but I'm sure cheddar would be good as well. You'd have to experiment. :)

Thanks for the comment. :) Many people write more ham and cheese. I personally don't like a lot of ham, but it's your sandwich so make it however you want. :)

Oh that's really nice to hear! I think I usually make 4 with the amount of ingredients, depends on how much bechamel you like. Thanks for the comment. 🙂
