Odd how youtube decides I want to watch these videos. But this time they hit the target. I was an OH-6 scout pilot with the 11th, and one day in Cambodia I thought it would be a good idea to see things from the ground level view, to see what the guys I was supporting saw. The NCOIC asked me if I could handle a 60. When I said yes he said take the left side. What I remember clearly is looking down to see that the entire floor was covered in ammo cans. and looking out it was branches and leaves. An NVA regiment could have been standing 20 feet away and I wouldn't have seen them. That day and every day that I flew I had the highest respect for the troopers on the ground. Blackhorse!

I was for a short time a scout pilot with the 11th and I wanted to know more about the ground operations. I asked for a ride in an ACAV, and when I said I was familiar with the M-60 I was offered the left side gun. I was standing on the ammo cans that covered the floor. Off we went into the Cambodian forest. At times I couldn't see 10' into the bush. It was scary and my respect for those guys went way up. The troopers of the Blackhorse should always stand proud. Allons brothers. Find the bastards and pile on!

I wonder with all the modern Technology available to us whether someone could Digitally Restore and clean up some of this 8mm Movie footage. Things like this are vital to future Generations, and maintaining that relevance and link to the past and that history is documented and does not just fade away...The Sacrifice of so many on all sides deserves to be documented.
