I was 11 when Bobby played Eric Bristow in the world darts final. I desperately wanted Bobby to win. You could tell he was a good bloke and he had style. It was a great final and because of Bobby and Eric darts became huge. Shame it’s no longer on the BBC.

Bobby has done so well in his life. Hugely successful in his chosen career. A beautiful loving wife and family and an incredible home. Plus the love of millions of fans. Great man 👍

I was there that night ! We were all sorting out our early taxis home ! Phill Nixon made it one of the very best Embassy finals and won the hearts of millions. RIP Nixy. Wolfie proved his position as number one over the next few years too !

Remember watching this on a black and white portable telly, I had a 1er on Taylor at 6-4, the most intense final I've ever known, I remember being amazed at how Taylor could even stand there without shaking, never mind throwing darts so accurately, one dart he needed and he got it, the crowd was nearly all for Gregory, an early sign of Taylor's greatness, what a match, thanks Phil 😊
