This is so helpful! I took the course over the summer and forgot how to do certain sections. This is a great refresher!

Do you have kids that can't write? Inclusion kids? If so, how do you work with them?

I teach a multigrade class (kindergarten, first and second grades) and have 1 hour 45 minutes to do all ELA activities for all 3 grades. Any recommendations on how to incorporate this into groups? I currently have 5 reading levels between 3 grades.
@danifromdetroit2 ай бұрын
Hi! I would do my best to group students who are on similar reading levels. From there, I’d teach them all the same lesson, but I’d differentiate the lesson based on ability. Are you able to do that in your building or do you have to follow a particular model?

You are amazing, Dani!!!!!! Where can I get those enlarged Phonics First posters that you use for your Clean Copy on the wall???

Thank you very much! I used the poster maker at my school to create the large clean copy paper and I laminated it so that I can use it with dry erase markers

Hi do you mind sharing how you book keep or keep track of your students/lessons....I get anxious every year because I teach k-6 using different programs...Fundations, LLI, PAF, Wilson, Comprehension guided groups, and of course progress monitoring. I am not the best at staying organized. Every year I look for a planner to meet my needs and I am disappointed because it does not offer what I need. I teach 1:1 to groups of 6. Some people can easily see how to manage it. That is not my strong suit.
@danifromdetroit3 ай бұрын
Honestly I am naturally very organized. I love to color code things, make charts/lists, etc. I do find that it helps to keep a small folder or portfolio for each student and add notes to help track their progress. Hope this helps!

First off let me say you are answer to a prayer that I had been praying. There are few videos that address an interventionist’s classroom/space. It is also affirming that you are using an OG approach to teaching phonics instruction. I am a K-2 reading and math interventionist at me school. I received training in OG about six months ago and implemented some of the curriculum towards the end of last year. OMG! I and the kids loved it! I am so excited for this upcoming school to fully implement it. I am so glad to hear that you take the first couple of days/ weeks to build routines for students. That is exactly what I was going to do as well. Setting expectations early on sets the remainder of the lesson and the year. Kudos to you. I am definitely a subscriber of your channel please continue to post ideas and routines. It is so needed for teachers of color.❤

I just learned my son has dsylexia, he will be going into 2nd grade in the fall. They have a teacher training in dyslexic curriculum programs orton-Gilliam, but it is not looking like he will get that teacher and I did request her. He does have an iep. Thank you for this video, I am definitely not an educator but I will help my son to learn how to read if the school isnt!°

Great Work! Please be sure when pronouncing the consonant sounds like (b,d,w) we don’t add the extra uh sound to it- it’s /b/ not /b*uh*/ Example @4:41 Often times it is hard for us to hear it, and depending on where you are from is habit, however it makes all the difference for many students when they work decoding words that they are connecting the correct sound and not adding the extra (uh) at the end.
