As somebody who cannot co-ordinate her hands to do two different jobs at different times to one another unless they are pressing things at EXACTLY THE SAME TIME, I'm telling you that this ;lesson is much easier than the previous one, because a) you don't need to move fingers off the keys and b) because you can start training both hands to work together at the same time. The previous video with Row Row Row Your Boat seemed far harder to get the bass button rhythm going when it seemed out of count with the tune and you had to move your fingers up and down the keys. Definetly try this first if the previous lesson seemed impossible.

I always failed to play the piano because I couldn't co-ordinate right and left handed playing, so we'll see how I get on with my Grandad's accordion using two hands...

Quite a substantial difference between the two! I wonder what in the construction accounts for the difference I love the tone of the yamaha pianica when used for chordal playing in the lower register, it has a warm and charming tone, but I'm always wanting a little more range on the bottom. Perhaps I'll get one of these, (although both do sound quite different). I think I probably like the HB best. Would be really interesting for you to do a comparison between more melodicas, and across brands. It's quite striking how much variation there is between different instruments in their voices. Also, it would also be nice (for me anyway) to hear a little bit of chordal playing too, although these demos were obviously great to demonstrate what the instruments are capable of and sound like melodically (no pun intended). Even just a few basic cadences, just to hear how the instrument sounds when say 4-6 reeds are being played together, rather than on mostly single note lines. But I'm not complaining, this was still a very good demo otherwise!

Please could you advise some good brands/models of One-Row diatonic accordions, for Cajun style playing ? I really want to buy one but when I search the net for them, I find lots of other accordions that are not quite this - and I don't want to end up buying the wrong thing. I don't want to buy anything cheap as I've never learned any instrument well if cheap'n'nasty. I'd like to go for mid-proce level at first and then buy something really good IF I learn enough and really feel good progress. I already play guitar & piano (blues music) and used to play diatonic harmonica (blues-harp style). Really hoping you can advise a good accordion to buy. Many thanks in advance, from Edinburgh, Scotland, UK.

Must be my lack of music theory but i have question. The scale is Dm so why do you play the G at 3:34 and call it the basic root? Shouldn't that be the D?
