Are you saying that's you're first time at the ridge? If so that's a really good time. Not sure what the delta would be with an official timer but that's GT3 territory there.
@iStubz29 күн бұрын
@@TylerSavin yeah, first time there. That was the morning of day 2. And that was on official timing transponder and aim solo. Thanks man. I know it has more in it too, I think high 45s are possible.

Nice driving ! Why no chin camera angle ? :'( And I think this was a bit too wide-angle, too much distortion to my liking.
@iStubz5 ай бұрын
Yeah, I had set the cameras up for the POV mode, usually I post those but that camera wasn’t working. For sure I’ll have to put the rollbar camera to less wide angle in the future
@RicouNiet5 ай бұрын
@@iStubz So, after posting this 1st comment, I went to see if some of your other videos were POV ('cause of your helmet cam). Yeah... should've started with that ! By the way, have you tried taking the last corner (before the long straight) one gear lower ? From here it looks like it could be faster (in acceleration at least). Or were you trying to conserve traction ? Anyway, it was a close battle, fun to watch ! Nice skillz.

As someone who’s handled a lot of POV footage over the past 10+ years, this is definitely a cool, wide perspective. If you want to give a more chaotic, exaggerated sense of speed and movements, this is the way to go. Personally, I prefer the normal GoPro view, with the GoPro mounted either just under the visor or on the top lip of the visor if you have a very low seat position. Like this as an example. GoPro 11 Mini mounted just below the visor. This gives about as realistic of a POV as possible. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bai2ZmqFlNWdgrc This is not to say your footage isn’t fantastic! It is! I’m definitely a new subscriber and I look forward to seeing other videos like this. Happy racing!
@iStubz6 ай бұрын
Thank you for the insight man! I would definitely love to achieve the view you linked, but I think it’s hard as it’s kinda driver position related. If I mount my GoPro to the lower edge of the visor you’d just be staring at my gauges unfortunately. Maybe I can get this view a little lower though without it obstructing me. The tighter FOV they use is definitely more accurate to real, I opted to use the larger one to get more side perspective for when there’s car’s beside. But I’ll definitely give that one a try!

Sorry if these are dumb questions, I'm not very knowledgable about the 350z/370z platform. Are you using a stock 350z trans? 370z trans? I'm assuming CD00A? Is it modified or upgraded in any way? What RPM are you shifting at? I see it looks to be around 7500 RPM, is that because of the engine or is the trans a limiting factor too? How reliable is the trans? Do you have to rebuild / replace it quite often? I have a shop (Walshmo Racing) and we've done a Samsonas H-pattern dogbox for a supercharged S2000 but I heavily considered the Nissan trans as an option. Ultimately I decided against it due to RPM limitations but I am curious for myself... in the future I may turbocharge my K24 S2000 and I like the idea of using a stout OEM transmission like the CD00A as long as it can hold up to my RPM requirements i.e. 7600 RPM. Any thoughts?
@iStubz6 ай бұрын
So 2003-2005 use the CD001-9/A trans, 2006-2008 use the JK40/41 trans (same as 370z). All I have is a direct mount short shifter and upgraded internal slave. I rev to about 7300-7500 because it’s actually better for the powerband than revving out to 7800. The JK trans is way way stronger than CD, but has a different bellhousing pattern and starter location. In 7 years of racing this car I’m on my second trans, because I lost fifth gear in a race last year. I wouldn’t say the trans is RPM limited at all really, there’s guys spinning to 8k+ on them. The only real downfall is that they are heavy and large, and pretty much non-rebuildable. If I had the budget I’d have an ultra-tight ratio dogbox myself as I think the gearing is as important as the rest of the factors.
@ericmwalsh6 ай бұрын
@@iStubz thank you for the info and I appreciate the insight! Yeah I agree with your conclusion, an ultra-tight ratio dogbox would still be my preferred way to go if I had to stick with an H-pattern box. The Samsonas is a nice box but man is the price tag hefty. It takes quite a bit of time to get used to as well.

Appreciate the love man. Just do the gallery gaskets, keep it cooled properly, and get any baffled pan as additional insurance. My original HR motor did nearly 40k track miles before snapping a camshaft in half (the rest of the motor is so clean you could eat off of it).
