You sir are my HERO! THANK YOU for posting this video. Just did all four of my lug nut locks....I ended up using a 1" for initial pounding, then a 15/16" for the removal. Worked great. Thank you again. Now to put some$10 regular lug nuts one. Take care.

I had luck just driving the 1 inch socket in. Then using an impact to take that off.

Went to try this and the 1 inch socket is stuck on the locking lug nut and can't get it off for the life of me

I have a 2014 Ram 1500 and that way didn’t work but is what I did is I took a 1 1/16th socket and hammered on there until wouldn’t go anymore and took a ratchet and it came right off.

Glad I found this. Bought a used Ram 1500 and didn’t know the key was missing. Dealership wasn’t any help and this took all of 5 minutes for all 4 wheels. I used a 6 inch extension so I wouldn’t smash a finger or scar the wheel.

I'm impressed this worked as well as it did, i thought the metal would be too soft to hold

Thank you for this! I had lost my wheel key for my 2012 Ram and was able to get the locks off using this strategy.

Bro i owe you 400 $ …dealership was charging 90$plus tax for each lock

This does work! Just took all 4 mopar locking lugs off my ram by doing this. It's a little bit of effort, mostly just getting the sockets back off. Really appreciate the video on this. The socket sizes were accurate as well.

I have four dealerships where I live and every single one told me the key was unique to my truck.

This video helped make me 100$ today. Customer lost his key, and had some hack come out and get a socket stuck on the locking lug. Removed the stuck socket, and followed this procedure and had them all off in less than a half hour. Much appreciated.

did not work for me the 1" socket did a good job pushing the ring back but the 7/8 will not even go onto the lug

Sorry but i tried this exact technique on my 2014 Ram 1500. The one inch socket knocks back the anti theft ring no problem but the 7/8 socket will NOT grab the lip at all and just spins freely. I eventually went to the dealership and found a socket key that fit (had to try a bunch but they didn't charge me). My advice is not to screw around just go to shop and ask to see the lug nut keys--they will have on that fits; the "solution" shown here was not even close to working.

Actually, just thought of a question.... looks like maybe you used a 12-point??? Have you ever tried it with a 6-point socket? I only have 6, so that's why I ask. Might need to pick up a 12.
@cliko1874 жыл бұрын
The 6 point works also.

@@cliko187 Thank you! I just wondering if the 12 made any difference. I know sometimes 6 points seem to fit differently on fasteners. I appreciate the reply.

K B the 6 point worked better actually. It went in tighter.

Very nice. I keep fighting with these at work every once in a while. I'll have to remember to try this. Thanks!
