I stopped watching at Mr Trump being invoked. It is entirely misconceived to draw this silly and dangerous clown into the context of recovering beauty in architecture. That is the wrong company, and new traditional architecture has NOTHING whatsoever to do with populism and rightwing extremism, because it is a professional, and sophisticated movement, and populist nitwits liking it does not in the least affect the authenticity of the movement.

This is giving attempts for re-beautification in architecture a bad name. Especially Trump is a proponent of endarkenment, utilizing stupidity and delusion, as we've seen with Covid-19, QAnon, climate chamge denial, and on the January 6th, he proved what I thought before was only leftist scaremongering: that he's trying to become dictator. A highly immoral man, even by conservative standards, promoting a Taliban-like order in Project 2025. Bringing back beautiful styles can already be problematic, when it focuses on palaces, mansions, cathedrals only, which play little role for average people. When beautification comes with such political change, it just glosses over a far greater ugliness!

Moral of story: Treat your kids well, or else they might grow up to be a modernist
@javierpacheco82347 ай бұрын
If you want to end modernism then we must eliminate modern architecture academia that most architecture schools do and give a spot of appreciation for the past styles of architecture, that are being unfairly treated and not represented. This world works with power, and with no power you can't do anything.

Here is an important thing most modernist architects tend to forget. Unlike art pieces inside a museum, the objective of architecture is not to give an abstract idea or an expression. The primary objectives of a building are to; 1) Function and perform well for it's occupants 2) Provide visual (and thermal in some cases) comfort for outsiders 3) Contribute to outdoor placemaking 4) Minimize the negative impact on the environment

What I would love to see in architecture is a return to consulting a geomancer about site placement and building design. The temple builders and city planners of the ancient world had a keen understanding of geomantic principles. Designing a building to work with the underground telluric energy currents can have profound effects on the health of the residents, and even the economic prosperity of the region.

Urban Planners mostly have understood the downside and unsustainability of car centric and modernist urban development, and actively promote people centric and transit oriented development. However, Architects still lagging behind. Most of them still try to stand out through their modernist and 'iconic' buildings, which are eye sores to general public.
