Thanks for sharing your experience. I really want to encourage you and all anglers to research and practise proper catch and release techniques to reduce stress on fish that have been caught. You do a good job of removing the hook from the fish. As much as possible you don't want fish pulled up out of the water on the end of your line before netting them and they benefit from being cradled at water level to be revived rather than thrown from dock height back in the water. Everyone, take time to do a little online search for the abundant resources available on the topic of proper catch and release techniques. It's part of the sport!

Haha that damned otter. I left a fish on a string at the wharf/dock. Heard some splashing and realized the otter took my fish!

hard to see exactly what your setup is here, could you explain? would love to use this at rice lake!
@shutupandfishbcАй бұрын
its a easy setup, i use 6lb leader with 1gr jigheads hooks with different colors bait, the rod plays a big role when jigging, ill show the rod and the set up soon, i use the same stuff almost everything :P
@AlistairDurieАй бұрын
@@shutupandfishbc thanks! I've never tried jighead hooks so I would love to see your exact method. was at Rice Lake last week and not even a bite in 4 hours. my boy doesn't want to go back! we usually use a sinking adjusta bobber with floating powerbait 2-3ft off the bottom, has worked well in the past but hasn't been working so well lately. plus your method looks a lot more fun.

Is August a good time for trout at deer lake? And when is the best times of year? Thanks!
@shutupandfishbcАй бұрын
for trout is good after they stocked the lake for a few weeks, august, september not so much, but bass, crappie ans sunfish are always active in summer, for trout check the gofish bc website for stocking dates.

Nice work. The silver one is a hatchery Coho. I caught one in the same cove about two months ago on a Chartreuse spinner. She was just over 12 inches long, and I invited her home for a smoker. Good reason to have a fresh water salmon tag on your license.
@jackofallfishingАй бұрын
That is an illegal retention. You are not allowed to fish for salmon in region 2 outside of the DFO listed opportunities, and there are no openings for coho in Deer Lake, much less retention. The reason you are encountering hatchery marked coho in that lake is because the various Brunette River stream keeper groups are trying to restore the coho run. Hatchery marked fish doesn't mean you can retain a fish where ever you want.
