I'm parting out a nAS right now, and this is good info. I was thinking of the i5-14500 or one of the Ryzen 9XXX series. Ryzen runs circles around Intel right now for literally anything but transcoding, better performance at lower power use, but I was considering Intel for the iGPU, but hell, I could get a Sparkle Arc A310 for $99.99 that would QuickSync anything I could throw at it in an AMD NAS.
@STSКүн бұрын
A 12th gen Intel CPU would definitely work well, I haven't seen any reports of these issues with 12th gen and you still get the iGPU. If you are using Plex for example, while not supported, I think I read that the iGPU on AMD can provide hardware accelerated transcoding now. It's likely not as polished at Intel though. The A310 is certainly an interesting option, especially down the line when AV1 comes into play.
