The first time I heard this song was in the area where the Mariachis performed in the Acapulco Pricess Hotel in Acapulco México while my beautiful wife and I were celebrating our honeymoon. she requested that this song. I will never foget it. we were married for 42 yesrs 7 months. I am in awe that she passed on 02/19/2021. we married on 07/19/1980. very sad memories but I'll never forget her or the moment.

An addendum to my comment: "Perfidia" means betrayal. That's why this song -- not this particular performance, but this song -- is so significant to the movie "Casablanca," in which it is featured in the flashback scene to Paris where Rick and Ilsa dance cheek-to-cheek shortly before separating as the Nazis move in. Betrayal or true love in difficult times?

I completely agree with comment about the significance of the intro. It sets the stage not just for the lyrics but for the music. This version of the song is wonderful, but don't miss Dorothy Lamour's rendition.

Oh my God, this is unbelievable! About a year ago while listening to every version of Perfidia since the fall of Rome I listened to this version and thought , "this man must have been mentored by Ferry; then I ran into your comment but didn't have the time to comment and unfortunately I lost the note with info of which video i had watched. And today I'm doing taxes and from the papers falls the envelope I had scribbled on a year ago; so here I am to say I almost lost it when I first read your comment because that EXACT same thought flew into my forebrain. Great minds DO think alike! At about 2:12 Alberto adds a little upward slide/trill on the 'a' in corazon, and I picture Ferry in a white sport coat singing that singing it EXACTLY that way. Been a Brian Ferry /Roxy fan since 71or 72. I have the album with the banned / removed photo of the two women in p@nteeze . Let me know if you got this comment, if you would please. Or not, I'm content to know I was able to share your sentiment. Cheers , mate.
