Thank you Tony for the information! Do you think chances to get a job at airlines are much higher when going through the cadet program? I looked into it and it's about twice the cost as local schools.

Hey there Tony. I’m cadet at Air Transat's Academy. I was wondering if you’d want to set up a discussion someday that we could post on our respective channels. Cadet programs are quite new here in Canada so I’m sure we could cover a lot and subsequently help out future cadets. If you’re interested, my email is on my “about” page. Thanks :)

That, and nobody can afford to fly anywhere anymore. I'm taking my business to the US- the taxes there don't punish you for being successful, there's 60% less red tape and you don't have to worry nearly as much about the government in general. I bet you could get hired on to fly in the states in a heartbeat- way better working environment.

non of the cadet programs in the U.S are real, unlike Asia in North America you need to pay for your training and find your own way to build flight hours after you get Cpl.

Good evening, pilot Tony, I like your videos and hope to get some feedback from you. I am looking to become a commercial pilot by enrolling in a college aviation program here in Ontario. However, I do not have money to afford the expensive tuition fees for this. Is being a commercial pilot in Canada worth it? I do want to pursue my dream career, but I don’t want to be drowning in debt in the future and regret the decision to choose that career path. Is there stability in being a commercial pilot in Canada? How accurate is this pilot shortage that everyone talks about? I would appreciate any advice you can give me as I feel lost and don’t know what career path to follow. Thank you so much!

Thanks for watching my videos! I will have a few more videos on pilot shortage, training options, costs, and salary topics coming out in the future. For your situation, you are not alone! Many people struggled including myself, choosing to become a pilot in Canada is definitely not the most financially rewarding thing, it does unfortunately come with a high initial training cost, low starting salary, and little to no financial support, but it also comes with a different lifestyle. I’d say you could research and evaluate more options out there if you are not sure at the moment, for example some people work for another career/job while doing their pilot training because that makes the most sense to their situation. At least if you’ve exhausted your options you know you’ve made the choice most suitable for you in the future. There’s indeed a pilot shortage across the industry now, but we don’t know what will be in the future, so it’s better to not weigh too much on that when making big decisions like this.

Are there any age restrictions or language proficiency requirements for aspiring commercial pilots in Canada?
@PilotTonySays
@PilotTonySays 7 ай бұрын
Yes, you need to be at least 17 to hold a commercial pilot license but the training can start earlier (14 to hold a student pilot permit), and minimal ICAO Aviation English Level 4.
