Three of my buddies and I are planning to come out and backpack in September. The way I read it is that you did this in three days. Did yall only camp for 2 nights?

This is the hike! Period. Like the Panoramic in Yosemite, it is a western icon. Electric/Bannock/Quadrant/Bunsen area in Yellowstone is great for wandering. In Moab the La Sals from the La Sal side summer. Gold Basin in winter. Out of hundreds of summits I have done my favorite was Barronette Peak in Yellowstone in July, no smoke. My favorite canyon rim is Toroweap AZ. From Jackson to Lander to Pinedale around the wind rivers is 460 miles from Jackson to Yellowstone around the loop and back 330 miles. I camp up in Absoroka between Jackson and Dubois. Drive back into Teton for day hikes summits. In Yellowstone I camp in the Beartooth drive into Park, 3am. NOrtheast.

This is the only multiday hike I would do in the west other than Gallatins. Not a big fan of long treks. I would definitely start up Death canyon out cascades. I would take four days or five and hit some peaks starting with static right out of Death Canyon. Buck Mountain would be a good one for going big. On that death canyon trail I have walked right into all kinds of bears and moose. one bear 10 feet away before I ever saw them munching in the bushes right by the trail, black bears of course. Probably would not work out with a griz to well that close. The wildlife in Teton seems used to people. another black bear was sitting by the benches at roosevelt center literally right off the porch.

Fantastic job at capturing the beauty of the winds. Also, it's nice to see someone, other than myself, using an external frame backpack. I've been backpacking for nearly 50 years and that's all I've ever used and all I ever will use. Thanks for sharing.

So awesome. We did almost exactly what you guys hiked on our day one. We camped out at the lodge at 4AM and still got skunked on camping permits so we also had to hike up to Targhee/Alaska basin area. Lot of elevation gain and miles but a beautiful worthwhile adventure.

Great trip, wonderful video- i hear critters eat things like your pack straps for the salt which would make sense on the shoulder straps.

Spectacular footage of these magnificent canyon trails throughout Alaska. Since I am of age now & have knee problem will not be hiking any treks through the mountains! Thanks for taking time to record and sharing!

Wow, I can practically feel the excitement rushing through my veins as I watch the hikers embark on their 3-day adventure. Cascade Canyon, Alaska Basin, Teton Crest Trail, and Death Canyon - these names bring back a flood of memories and emotions. The breathtaking landscapes showcased in this video remind me of the sheer beauty and vastness of nature. The towering mountains, crystal-clear lakes, and lush forests are sights that truly leave you in awe. I remember the sense of accomplishment and fulfillment that washed over me with every step I took along those challenging terrains. Thank you for sharing this incredible experience. Keep adventuring and sharing your amazing journeys with the world!

One of the many good things about being in the back country is that you only meet good people there - the jerks are lazy and stay in the cities.

42:10 think the animal was after the concentrated salt from Sam sweating unto the backpack straps. either that, or the critter liked Sam's scent left on those straps. animals can be strange.
