The Shape buttons alter the tone. One increases midrange.. for slap / funk the other button is more bassy giving an old style Motown style tone.

If you want a bass combo for gigs and rehearsals this is a good buy.. bear in mind you can't expand it. so you'll be stuck with the combo as it is.(no extension cab out). so my advice would be a 350watt Rumble head and 4x10 cab. making sure the cab is 4 Ohms. the Rumble 410 is a 4 Ohm cab. Then you'll have a gig ready setup.

It'll be gig worthy but if I were you.. go with the setup I'm putting together for gigs & rehearsals.. that's the 350 Rumble head mated to a Rumble 410 cab. that'll most definately hold it's own in a gig.

It's midrange combo. personally I recommend the 350 head with a 4x10 cab. in the Rumble range. you'll get a big sound with that set up.. the volume level is said to be comparable to other manufacturers 600 watt amps. so it's a conservative 350 watts.
