Basically she hates animals, but kept it hidden and didn't act apon it untill Danny deliberately upstaged her, then danny took it a step further by trying to get him and the rest of the animals in the spotlight instead of darla which, upset her even more, then she got revenge by flooding the stage and studio the animals were rehearsing on causing lots of damage which danny gets blamed for, afterwards Danny tricks her into admitting she flooded it, the animals get the spotlight in films and darla gets punished by having to be the janator for a while as shes just a child. Even though darlas revenge was a bit extream....danny was the one who started it all and began the trouble.

This kind of scene still pretty much haunts me even today as an adult... Especially seeing the cats going down the drain... Makes me feel a little ill...

The point this movie tried to make is, stop caring about the fame, stop trying to "make it big" to be someone. Just follow your passion, do what you love, and the rest will happen eventually.
