I don’t play Craps but knew a guy that claimed he would bet pass and his friend would bet don’t pass at the same table. Claimed it made it look like both were playing big and they would get big comps. I’m sure there’s a hole in that scheme beside them being on the lookout for stuff like that.

Casino bosses must've watched this movie, then prevented people from doing it.

One of my all time favorites. Hard Eight is an underrated classic. I hope in the future it gets the accolades that it deserves.😊

Why are a lot of folk in the comments going over the top with this scene? it's stupid and unrealistic. You'd be dumped out of the Casino in an hour or two flat when they clock you going up every 20-minutes to the cash counter.

For one, the film was made in 1995 and may be projecting an even earlier time within the context of the film, so that’s 30 + years ago. Hustles such as the one John is pulling probably were a thing at some point so lighten up a bit and stop being such a stickinthemud.

Probably worked 40 years ago. Now it's all measured by your player card and how much you play/average bet. You can still play games that are close to even money and if played perfectly your expected loss will be relatively small compared to how much you gambled, but casinos are aware of that as well and take into account the RTP (return to player percentage) of the games you play.

Even back in the 70s playing a $150 on slots might get you a comped breakfast. Might In the 90s? They might be polite
