Excellent. This is good teaching. Thank you. I hear some people who view Elihu in a good and favorable way, which is concerning. Thank you for breaking this down and showing just how Elihu is not only wrong, but completely out of line. Elihu is a deceiver and I believe in alignment with Satan and his aims from Job chapters 1 & 2. The only thing I would suggest is that the reason Elihu is not present when God rebukes the 3 friends is because when the Whirlwind arrives, Elihu is utterly destroyed.

Sounds like you've been reading up on your Hislop. The tradition of Lent and Ash Wednesday are not to be found in the Bible; they are religious traditions - the 40 days of fasting and sacrificing of Lent comes from the 40 days Christ spent in the desert right before beginning his public ministry. Ash Wednesday is the beginning of this period and serves to remind man of his mortality; the idea of repenting of one's sins while one can. To suggest that all major religions go back to Babylon is utter nonsense. Nimrod was a legendary figure from Semitic mythology - he's a legendary/mythical personage. On the other hand, there was a historical Shammuramat (the original form of the name Semiramis - Semiramis is the Greek version); however, she was the wife of Shamshi-Adad V, ruler of the Neo-Assyrian Empire around 824 BC. Her claim to fame is that, in a culture where a female ruler was virtually unthinkable, she became regent for five years until her son was old enough to take over as ruler. This 'feat' may have eventually elevated her to the status of a virtual goddess and given rise to the whole Nimrod/Semiramis legend. Easter does not derive from Ishtar - that’s a completely false etymology that’s been promoted by certain religious denominations. This false etymology originates with a Scottish minister from the 1800’s (Alexander Hislop) in his book, “The Two Babylons”, a book which was thoroughly discredited as early as the 1920’s. Indeed, there is no serious self-respecting Biblical scholar who would give any credence to Hislop’s “theories”. Hislop had a poor understanding of Babylonian religion and a rabid hatred of the Roman Church. Scholars today recognize this "work" for the anti-Catholic drivel that it is. There is simply no way culturally, and particularly linguistically, to connect Ishtar with Easter. The two words may ‘sound alike’, but that's where the similarity ends. Furthermore, this similarity is based on the modern pronunciation of the word. That pronunciation has only been around since about the early 1500’s. Easter derives from Ēostra; the Anglo-Saxon name variation of the West Germanic goddess of dawn and spring. Indeed, an entire month was dedicated to her; namely April. The etymology of her name comes from an Indo-European root meaning “to shine, glow red” -a reference to dawn. To the early Germans, she was Ostara, from which modern German gets “Oster” for Easter. Ēostra’s name has also given us the name of the cardinal direction “East” as well as a number of place names in England. Ishtar, on the other hand is simply the Akkadian variation of the West Semitic goddess Astoreth (Hellenized to Astarte). It’s the same word (the -eth on the end of Astoreth simply indicates a feminine noun). Ishtar, or to use the Hebrew variation, Ashtarot, comes from the root word meaning “to increase”. In her earliest form, she was seen as a goddess of grain, or grain increase (thus; the eventual morph to a fertility goddess), but she was primarily seen as a goddess of love and war; not fertility. Since Ēostra is associated with Spring, many of her traditions have come to be associated with fertility, even though she is not a Germanic fertility goddess (that would be Freja). Some of Ēostra’s traditions include the egg and possibly the rabbit (thought the rabbit in association with Ēostra seems to be a later Medieval addition). Both of these are European symbols of fertility. Eggs and hares have never been historically associated (or even suggested to be associated) with Ishtar; her sacred animal was the lion; her symbol, the eight pointed star and a twisted knot of reeds representing the doorpost to a grain house (as mentioned, in her earliest form, she was a goddess of grain); not one credible source cites eggs. Indeed, neither the hare nor eggs were seen as fertility symbols in the ancient Near East. Ishtar’s cult practice died out about 300 AD; long before many European peoples started associating the Christian resurrection narrative with their existing springtime traditions. To try and associate Ishtar with Easter is a bit like trying to say that the word “baby” has the same root as the word “Babylon”, or that “Amen” is really derived from the Egyptian god Amun, so when you say Amen, you are really praising Amun. It’s a complete false etymology and symbol association, created to further promote the beliefs and idea of some Christian denominations…... the reality is that there just is zero association; it’s wishful thinking at best. There is no doubt that many of our Easter traditions come from pre-Christian religions and beliefs, I’m certainly not refuting that, but the Akkadian goddess Ishtar and her associated traditions do not encompass any of these. Our traditions are firmly rooted in our European traditions.

This was SO good. The aspect that the people were really “overripe.” This showed me how widely and deeply Jesus has loved all people. To give them chance after chance, even the people left behind during tribulation, to turn to Him. That’s the heart of God. That we all turn to Him. And then eventually the age of grace has to end and Jesus comes down to judge the wicked once and for all. Thank you for all the connections to the Old Testament and encouraging us to cross-reference. This was awesome!

As frustrating as things are right now in our country, when we focus on God and His word it makes our hearts rejoice seeing all of it taking shape, knowing JESUS Christ, understanding His word and promises we are living in such exciting times! Thank you so much for the time you put into studying His word and sharing it with us. May God richly bless you!

Concentrate for a minute on Rev 4:3. Read Ez 1 27-28 and Heb 1 3. The emerald is the stone of the tribe of Judah. Jesus is the rainbow in Chapter 4. It is the most beautiful description of the relationship between the Father and the Son. Also it is clear that no one comes to the Father except through the Son. Give this some thought and then read Chapters 10 and 11. Compare the events in Chapters 10 and 11 to 1 Thess 4 16-17. I believe that Jesus is the rainbow, the angel is the archangel, the roar(shout or command) is issued with the voice of the archangel. The seventh trumpet then blows and we have 1 Cor 15 52. By the way the salvation of the Jewish people is in Chapter 11 - seven thousand were killed and the rest gave the glory to God - just the opposite of when God reserved for himself seven thousand who had not bowed their kness to Baal. May God let us be like the bereans.
