Did 3 tours there, 2 years in total. Split, Sipovo, Tsg, Banja Luka and another place. Went all over, stunning scenery but there was a saying, ' ethnic cleansing', but that happened in Northan Ireland in 69. In Banja Luka in the workshop, there were 2 locally employed civilians, welders, Branizelav and Mulatin, going back it was like reuniting with old friends. New year's eve, at 3pm I was told to go and collect a broken down land rover, no aguements, to a place called Sisava. After evening scoff I set off. Got there just before midnight, to be shown where to sleep hurriedly. Then followed the escrort out to a building and a beer trust into my hand. I got to bed at 4am. In the morning, the mechanic had a look at the vehicle, I had to tow it back to Banja Luka and got back at 6pm, to why did it take you so long, my answer was traffic. Another time, hazd to take a mechanic to Zagreb, problems with a posties land-rover, got there at 6pm had something to eat at the Ecos centre, the off to the accommodation whilst securing the weapons for the night, we'll we arrived at a Hotel. I thought our escorts was just dropping somet

Conscript Feb - Jul '96, IFOR SSVCie NL LogTBat Busovaca, truck driver YAD-4442. Mostly convoys between Vitez pocket and Split, but also so Sarajevo, Tuzla, Banja Luka, Jajce. Drove some American soldiers from some UK base (don't remember the name of the city, but it was a huge factory hall with lots of tents in it) to Sarajevo once, in the back of my truck. Nice guys.

In my military career I have only been in a few parades or reviews. It has been my experience that the reviewing stand was always on the right I.e. required the command eyes right. Was having the reviewing stand on the left a European thing or did I just miss a “eyes left” by chance?
@agris8859 Жыл бұрын
This may be three years too late, but better late than never! When this parade happens, it happens by the main street that leads past the Daugava river, on the side of the Presidential Palace. The stand itself is on the side of the Presidential palace - facing the Daugava river and the troops (who also face the stand). When the parade itself begins the command is given to turn left and the column marches to the end of the street (usually marked by the vehicles standing by, as they follow directly after the infantry), turn right, march forward a little bit, turn right again and go down the entire length of the main street & past the stand, which is on their left.
